A couple of years ago my…
A couple of years ago my wife and I bought 2 Hornbecks New Tricks. I asked what paddle they would recommend and the answer was the Tango FG. We've used these paddles for 2 years now and are completely happy with them. They have stood up well to our use and they are a delight to paddle with.
The Aquabound Tango…
The Aquabound Tango Fiberglass 4-Piece Straight Shaft Kayak Paddle (Northern Lights version) is currently my paddle of choice. It has a carbon shaft, fiberglass blade and the Posi-Lok adjustable handle. It is 240cm long and weighs only 28oz. This paddle comes in 4 pieces and weighs so little that it easily fit in my suitcase. I brought a large dry bag with shoulder straps to make it easy to carry to my kayaking destinations. I can paddle for hours without any arm fatigue due to its very light weight. The blade design (Northern Lights version) gets a lot of attention too.
The Aqua Bound 2 piece kayak…
The Aqua Bound 2 piece kayak paddle is a wonderful and versatile paddle.
Wow… originally thought it…
Wow… originally thought it was a tad expensive but made a last minute decision to acquire two sets (for spouse & me). We both love them!
Highly recommended. Smooth, lightweight, comfortable, easy to feather position etc.
Ps. Don’t hesitate.
I thought my Stingray Hybrid…
I thought my Stingray Hybrid 2-piece with a carbon shaft was great and it is but the Tango Fiberglass 4-piece with a straight carbon shaft is even better. It was so easy to pack and take on a plane. I used it for the first time at the Gulf Coast International Kayak Symposium in St. Petersburg, Florida for 3 days in February. We were on the water 6 hours each day. This ultra-light paddle was perfection. It made paddling effortless, since it only weighs 28 ounces. It also allowed me to execute my skills in each class smoothly & efficiently. The Northern Lights design on the blades also got a tremendous amount of attention, so much so that several people stated that they needed to buy that paddle. It is no wonder that Paddling Magazine rated the Tango the Best Paddle of 2022.
I purchased a Tango for my…
I purchased a Tango for my wife as a present. She looked at me like I had a hole in my head for spending a few hundred on a paddle when she already had a perfectly good one. Just went out for the first time last week. Her first comments were these are really nice and make a difference, you have a birthday coming up, what you need is a new paddle.
OMG! What a game changer.…
Once again a top notch…
Once again a top notch paddle from Aqua-Bound. I got the Whisky earlier & now this in a size 240 for my more casual/relaxing outings. It's so nice to take a slower day & paddle around with a paddle that just cuts into the water and moves it almost effortlessly. It's super lightweight, super strong & that Posi-Lok is fool proof. We did have to go against a pretty strong current at the end of our trek today for about two hundred yards & I started the high angled strokes and the tango handled it & got me to the launch site first ahead of my yakking buds both of them using a competitors brand and costing them about $ 100.00 more. hahahaaaaaa !!! When I needed or wanted to accelerate I could with little effort. These two Aqua-Bound paddles Tango & Whisky are top notch & I feel you get the most for your money in this price range. They easily compete & hold their own against far more expensive paddles & just dominate the competition in the lower priced paddles. $$$$ well spent.
We already had Aqua-Bound…
We already had Aqua-Bound Surge and Swell two piece fiberglass paddles with carbon shafts and needed a third paddle for a spare. We have only used the Tango once so far - in Pamlico Sound - off Hatteras Island, North Carolina. The Tango does have the newer position-lock coupling for joining the two halves and setting the feather angle. We like this coupling better than the single-hole/single-pin (per chosen feather angle). Not to sound like a promo but the connection feels more positive and seems, at this early stage, to be better suited for extended use and possibly less likely to be prone to damage. We like brightly colored blades as they certainly can be seen through fog or rain for a long distance - as compared to darker or more muted colors. We chose the yellow/red blades and are happy with that choice. We have a CD Libra-XT tandem kayak and are both relatively new paddlers who have been through a few in-pool classes and a full-day ACA kayaking course. We have been canoeing for thirty years - as such have a good feel for paddles in general. Both my wife and I felt that the exit of the Tango was not as clean as the Aqua-Bound Swell and Surge (both now discontinued, I believe). The Tango felt slightly lighter to use - as well as slightly stiffer (than the Surge or Swell). It may take more strokes to figure out the exit. It is nice to have three different paddles - as we can trade of on longer outings or with various conditions and use slightly different muscles to maybe reduce fatigue a bit.
Light, smooth- operating,…
Light, smooth- operating, well-engineered paddle makes you faster and more efficient. Plus, the lines look sharp. I enjoy the option of angling the paddle to my preference, since I have bursitis in one shoulder. Takes the pressure off where i don't need it. Such a good paddle, I'm saving my next discount coupon to get a second one for my hubby when he joins me on the water!
