First Look: Old Town Malibu ePDL+ 120 Brings Pedal-Assist Tech to the Water
Old Town is expanding its lineup with the Malibu ePDL+ 120, a kayak designed to bring electric pedal-assist technology to recreational paddlers. Combining a sporty hull shape with the brand’s ePDL+ drive, this model allows users to switch between manual pedaling, power-assisted pedaling, and fully motorized cruise control. Let's dive into the details!
Electric Pedal Power for Extended Adventures

Much like an e-bike on the water, the Malibu ePDL+ 120 offers five levels of pedal assist and a cruise control mode, giving users flexibility in how they move across lakes, rivers, or coastal waters.
The system is powered by a compact lithium-ion battery that fits inside the hull, providing hours of assistance before needing a recharge. Claimed runtimes vary from a whopping 46 hours on the lowest setting to three hours on the highest setting.

Designed for Comfort and Versatility

Equipped with an adjustable, breathable frame seat, the Malibu ePDL+ 120 is built for extended outings. Ample storage space allows room for gear, whether for a casual paddle, a fishing trip, or bringing along a cooler or pet. A universal transducer mount accommodates fish finders, further extending the kayak’s versatility—there are three built-in rod holders as well.

Built to Last

Like all Old Town kayaks, the Malibu ePDL+ 120 features a rotomolded hull made in Maine and is covered by a limited lifetime warranty. The Malibu ePDL+ 120 is available now for $5,499.99.
The Malibu ePDL+ 120 is one of several kayaks recently launched by Old Town, including the Sportsman ePDL+ 120 PRO for angling, Ocean Kayak Malibu Pedal T for those who like kayaking with a friend, and the fully motorized Sonata 106 MK.
