I was fortunate to find my 116 laying in a ditch along the highway. I'd never had a SUP so I had nothing to compare it to except my Old Town kayak. I fell in love with it right away, it's so big and stable. I can carry all the dogs. I can carry myself, the dogs and my teen age son! We can stand up on it and dive off for fun swimming. Yes, it is heavy as a horse but I would not trade it in. I bought an inflatable recently due to the weight of this one but hated it and returned it. Instead, my boy and I welded a ramp system that hooks to my car roof and I can slide it up to the top to carry it now. Problem solved. The new problem though is I need a replacement fin and have not been able to find one.
I haven't been on many paddleboards to compare this to but a friend took me out on hers and I had a blast!!! I definitely need to work on my balance but this was a nice and smooth ride

pros :great board, very stable on windy days, can surf through rocks and still float.
cons: wayyyyy tooooo heavy (55 lbs), requires 2 people to carry it around over longer distance (more than 50m)
the edge is too sharp, i find myself constantly getting scratched when trying to get up to the board while in the water or carrying it around.

We bought a Pelican Flow 116 board for our pond a few weeks ago - it took on water internally, so we unscrewed the front plug, which rolled off and disappeared (it was not secured internally). Called Pelican for a replacement - which cost $16.72 w/ shipping. Even though it should be covered under warranty for 2 years, they wanted the proof of purchase SENT to them in Canada first - summer would be over by the time we received the plug, so I went ahead and payed out. Just seems like lousy customer service to me.
Pros
before it started taking on water, we enjoyed the board in our pond
Cons
lousy customer service/warranty
Usage
pleasure and exercise only

Just purchased a Flow 116 and won't even be able to use it - it is missing the screws for the fun. After driving an hour home before leaving for our vacation, this was identified as we unpacked the plastic from this SUP. I called the store - even though I wasn't thrilled about a two hour round trip detour - to see if they had another with the missing screws. Unfortunately the only other one in stock was also missing the screws.
Can any current owner send me a picture of the screws so that we can try to find something similar at Walmart of Lowes before we reach the lake.
I tried calling Pelican, but have a hunch that call may not be returned quickly (if at all). I sent an email also but no response yet.
Thanks in advance if someone can help us salvage our lake vacation plans!

Bought one on clearance as a spare for family to use, was surprised how nice it was to paddle, handled almost a good as my more expensive boards. It's a great value for a starter board.
Pros
Durable - don't have to worry about damaging the surface. easy to paddle and plenty of tie downs.
Cons
Heavy (50lbs)) and miss the padding going to the front, dogs slips off.
Usage
basically no wave or wind, lake and small rivers/creeks.

Nice brightly colored polyethelene board. Soft top, contributes to barefoot comfort. Bungee system is good for lashing pfd, or any thing else for the tour. Manageable weight about 44 pounds, I can handle on my own. Removable fin. Glides nicely. Great for full body workout or just sun bathing. Nice recreational board. Used on river or lake.
Pros
Fairly light weight. Durable. Soft top is nice.
Cons
Paddle and seat that comes with board is not really desirable.

I am new to the SUP world. I didn't know anything about what type of board, for what type of conditions, to buy ie, lake, ocean, choppy, flat etc.
I have seen great reviews for the Pelican SUP Flow 116. When I found this site, it prompted me to go ahead and purchase the flow 116.
I love this board. I am 5'4 150lbs (give or take lol). Our son is 11 years old 5'6, 120 lbs. My fiancé is 5'11, 190 lbs. We also wanted a board to strap our beautiful Golden Retriever Maddey to. Maddey is 4 years old, 76 lbs.
This particular Pelican SUP, fits all of our needs.
Maddey knows when we're going to the lake, as soon as she sees me looking at the SUP, she is ready to go.
This is one great board, and I am thrilled that I bought it.
I had an old Nissan truck that I sold, to pay for the SUP, so we can enjoy Norris Lake with each other, and Maddey.
Pros
The stability it offers, and the fact that, it doesn't rock back and forth, like a canoe, or a bass boat would.
Maddey Loves her Pelican board.
Price point, $500.00 + -, is a small price paid, compared to the fun, two adults, one kid, and a Golden are having, exploring the lake, and it's coves.
Cons
There are no cons, that I can think of.
This board is heavy, but that is not a con, I think it's weight, paves the way, for it's awesome stability.
Usage
2 to 3 times a week, ALL summer long.

Were I work we sell four paddle boards this is one of them. I really like this sup because it is like a moveable island. It is so stable perfect for beginners. It is not the fastest stand up paddle board in the world but it will certainly get the job done and if you are curious about the sup world this is a great intro boat and you can't beat the price
Pros
Stability affordability
Cons
Slow and the foam pad for your feet could be better

The Pelican Flow 11'6" SUP is extremely inexpensive and perfect for a beginner. This board offered our family amazing stability while learning to paddle board. This board can be found for under $500 at most stores, and will give beginners a chance to try out and learn to paddle board without breaking the bank.
Pros
-amazing stability
-great price
-great for a beginner
Cons
-this board will make you fall in love with SUP and you will want to buy a more expensive board that has the ability to go faster
Usage
Our family used this board for exercise and touring around the lake. We have only used this board in a lake that is calm.

This board is great for a calm day. Stability is easily maintained, even for a first time user. The board would probably best be used on a lake or a calm bay or sound. It is a a better board for a first timer or someone who is unsure of investing a lot of money into a paddle board.
Pros
Provides a good core workout and is easy to transport.
Cons
It is not really made for using when conditions aren't calm, which is too limiting.

I have no regrets starting with this board. It seems to fit my needs. It seems very durable. The price point is great compared to my perceived level of enjoyment from any paddle board.
Pros
The board is very stable from sitting to standing and standing to sitting.
Cons
It is a little heavy but not a problem as it is stored on a pontoon boat.
Usage
Exploring shallow coves at our lake is quite enjoyable.

New to paddle boarding. for beging a beginner I thought it was a great purchase. Got from Dicks. I went for the cheaper side since I never SUP before and just wanted it for the family but its stable pretty easy to carry on roof rack
Pros
Cheaper
Stable
Cons
Little Heavy
Usage
I use this just for fooling around the lake.

I bought this board about a month ago. I needed one that could hold a little extra weight. Since Im new to the sport I wanted a cheaper board to start. Also our time to use it is limited in Michigan. So far Ive had a lot of fun on area lakes with minimal waves. The board does have a plug but havent had any leaking yet. Seems to be a fairly stable board, that I can easily change positions on.
Pros
All the handles, bungees on front, durable material, price point, easy to get on, no leaks around screw holes, and that it holds 260 lbs
Cons
Seems very heavy, not easy for one person to move, I wish the center was a little more rigid, its squishy, not real stable in small waves (maybe my fault), not the easiest to steer but Im use to a kayak.
Usage
Used for touring, exercising, just relaxing on the lake

Amazing board for beginners. Great stability, easy to maneuver, perfect for lakes, light surf, and shallow waters/rivers.
Pros
Great stability, flexible fin, safe against rocks/other obstacles in shallower rivers
Cons
Seam along sides is a bit rough, could use one or 2 more fins for better tracking
Usage
I use it all summer for fun on the lakes, exercise, and touring
