I've paddled solo canoes for over 30 years. This is my first Northstar canoe. I would not suggest it as an entry level solo canoe. It requires a more experience paddler, but it becomes more enjoyable as you spend more time on the water. Initial stability takes a while to get used to, but the secondary stability is excellent. I'm in my 60's now so a lightweight canoe is a joy to car top and portage. It handles waves well and paddles really well when loaded for a trip. This is my second kevlar canoe, but first one without a gel coat so it's not as stiff. I'm used to loading and unloading in the water so it's no big deal. I use a single blade paddle and find it tracks well with a j stroke. Overall I'm very pleased with it.

Rented one for the day. For me it is too small and sits too low. The initial stability is also bad. I’m 6’5” and the low seat and overall low height made it difficult to get out of the canoe. On the plus side it is not affected by the wind as much as my Wenonah Solo Plus.
