I'm tall and have wide kayaks so I got this in 240cm, I'm very happy with it. The locking ferrule system is worth the price alone, very easy to adjust for wind on the water, which I do often. Also a breeze to take apart and clean, I've had no problems in years of saltwater use. Add to that the light weight carbon shaft and it's a very reasonably priced all around paddle.

I have used the Aqua Bound…

I have used the Aqua Bound Eagle Ray Hybrid for the last year. This has been a great paddle for my style. I tend to be a lower angle paddler and this one works great. The snap-lock has worked without problems and is not rusting or causing problems.

Recently I noticed when getting ready to go out on the river that the right side had some water in it. When I lifted the paddle it sloshed back and forth. I contacted the company and they were very eager to help. They said they took that very seriously and said they would send me another paddle out right away. I had only asked them how to get the water and extra weight out of it. So this was a very pleasant surprise.

TLC lock system is on my 215…

Submitted by: iwjoutdoors on 1/27/2015
TLC lock system is on my 215 Eagle Ray which I use regularly on lakes and the sea. It has been used for about 700+ logged hours. Just recently, the paddle has had a habit of coming apart. If I grip both halves of the shaft and twist against each other, there is a definite movement. In due course, this is clearly undoing the twist-lock system. This is reaching the point of "dangerous" so I have to fix or replace using my limited budget (I'm a pensioner). There are 2 further issues to my paddle, which has served me well during all these hours, I will say.

Firstly, the size of the TLC twist-lock means that, on occasions, the knurled knob comes into ever-so-slight contact with the spray deck - it's finally damaged it so much (again, the dreaded 700 hours) that I have had to replace it, due to water leakage.

Secondly. the amount of flutter has always been an issue for me. I don't do the greatest roll and I must admit, a firmer blade would build a definitely better and positive roll.

Lastly a comment about one comment made about it having "stick-tion" on withdrawal - yep, it does IF YOU LEAVE THE PADDLE IN THE WATER AND MAKE TOO LONG A STROKE. So don't, and it's fine, 'cos at that point, your stroke is way too long.

If I could rate the Company for Customer Service, I would score it 10 out of 10.

My version is the EagleRay…

Submitted by: paddler234580 on 6/8/2012
My version is the EagleRay hybrid (2-piece carbon fibre shaft and nylon blades) and the TLC (Turn Lock Coupler). I found it lightweight and reasonably priced for a middle of the road paddle. The diameter was just right with good grip for bare wet hands. I use the 30* feather most often and find it easy to paddle.

The first time I used it, the coupler was very difficult to undo then I remembered a trick that I use to open new glass jars. Vibration - simply whack the coupler a few times in various spots with a blunt object and it will come apart easily.
