Sparrow Hawk Pro

The Sparrow Hawk is a great boat. I have never felt so one with the water in any other kayak. It glides through water with little wind resistence, little weathercocking. Learning to paddle a v-bottom boat is different, it actually can be more stable slightly on its side. Once you learn this fact and its strengths it becomes less tippy feeling. It takes a little time to gain confidence in it, especially if you are used to paddling a wide plastic boat, as I was. The fit is Greenland, with a low deck and a fit that is close to your body. Sits low in water. Designed by Mark Rogers of Wisconsin. The one thing I wished it had was a skeg. It would make it much easier to handle in following seas. Otherwise you can spend a lot of energy keeping it going in a straight line. Although I can tell you it was an absolute blast in following seas, as long as you could just play in them. It is a good boat for someone ready to move up to more of a performance boat. With the Greenland style seating, it helps to have a fairly flexible body.

Excellent high-end kayak for the smaller paddler, hard chine hull affords excellent secondary stability, 16' 6" length offers superb tracking, 42 lb composite model is light enough to lift. I highly recommend the Sparrow Hawk for women who demand performance. This boat fits like a glove.
