Versa Board LL Description

The Versa Board is the first stand up paddleboard of its kind: a paddleboard with complete hybrid paddling capabilities. It functions superbly as a SUP (stand up paddleboard) and fluidly as a SOT (sit on top) kayak. Sport options range from a hardcore angler's favorite fishing vessel, to a play machine and diving platform for the whole human and canine family, to a tread mill for core training. With a spring loaded skeg system controlled with a simple lever, the Versa Board flips from agile turner in tight areas to a true tracking craft. The Versa Board gets around easily thanks to the awesome Tag Along Wheel, which comes standard. Liquidlogic has developed many accessories for the Versa board so it can be whatever you want it to be-- ' la carte seating, storage, and deck-mounting options help you achieve your goal. Simply put, the Versa Board is incredibly stable, versatile and an excellent choice for beginners and experts, alike.

In a Class of Its Own

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 10/10/2016

I am an engineer that is always looking for the optimum balance in overall design, even in the products I purchase. By what I have picked up from marine engineers I have worked with in the past, I can tell a lot of love has gone into the design of this watercraft. Often times without careful consideration, a hybrid-designed vehicle that tries to be the best at everything ends up being an overly-costly burden that can only really do well in a few types of situations (some over-budget military vehicle projects of recent years come to mind). That is NOT the case here with the Versa Board, particularly on cost where I find the retail price to be a good value. Sure there may be the trade off made for increased stability over some speed capability and a couple other aspects that somewhat limit it as a kayak or stand up paddle board. Nevertheless, I personally find this hybrid design to be more than the sum of its parts.
I think it deserves a classification all its own considering the additional capability on the water that the Versa Board unlocks. A SUP-yak? A kaya-board? A stand-up-kayak? Maybe just "Versa Board". Whatever we call it, this thing is just a load of fun offering a wide variety of water activities in one package. Of course, you can alternate between SUPing and kayaking, but if you want to take a dunk in the water and climb back on, you can do that (mobile swimming platform). You can strap down plenty of backpacking gear to the deck and travel to a lakeside or river camping spot (like I was able to do at Voyageurs National Park, an amazing and unique experience). You can travel over shortcuts or access great fishing spots with its very shallow draft below the waterline (not sure of the actual draft measurement, but I have easily been gliding over 8" to 10" of water and I think over some rocks at only 6" depth). You can even decide to take a load off and just lie back from the kayak seat (I can't think of any kayak where you can so easily/comfortably lie down and watch the night sky stars drift along, and the Versa Board has a higher deck above the waterline than a traditional SUP, so you are less likely to get wet).

I think LiquidLogic are the only folks really offering this fully hybrid design. There are a couple fishing-oriented paddle boards where a seat could possibly be fit to it, but none I have seen offer the combination of molded kayak foot supports as well as SUP standing position. If you could only get just one paddle craft, I could only recommend this. It is in a class of its own.

Perfect versatile board

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 9/11/2016

Everything I was looking for. Shuttling around the kids in the shallows of the south shore beaches here in Mass, and 'expeditions' with them on the tidal rivers. So far only using as a SOT. Not a draw back - as advertised - but its bomber (a little heavy). The trade off for durability and stability in the water is worth it to me. And for transport, having a truck with an 8 foot bed and the built in wheelie helps a lot. Look forward to many more adventures.

Summer time and the livins' easy!

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 7/7/2016

It's really a great fit for me. The versatility is perfect for what I like to do. People should know that this is an excellent lake/ocean big body of water craft. Probably not the best on tight rivers or fast flowing rivers (class2 and under) still fun but the length of it makes some maneuvers hard. I would recommend other kayaks for white water. your going to get wet in this thing because of the sup design in this It is extremely stable yet fast when you want it to be. Lots of room for fishing gear/ coolers/ bags whatever you would need really. Great summer time fun craft. It hasn't left my truck other than to get in the water since I bought it. Beautiful design and craftsmanship. Awesome quick service. Thanks liquid logic!

Great purchase!

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 7/3/2016

I am so glad I found this product! I wanted a paddle board but also wanted the ability to take multi day trips. This board allows both of those things. Plus, as a 130 lb female, the wheel on the back makes it to where I can handle getting it places on my own. Can't say enough good things. Tested this out in rivers, lakes and just yesterday the Gulf of Mexico. I've never written a review before but this product deserved it.

Versaboard

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 7/2/2016

Great board! I've had several SUP's and must say that the versa is tough and will not ding easily, it's stable, it has all the right things on it... foot stance, cargo net, etc... The open kayak is a huge bonus. Not one negative. It's perfect for lakes, rivers, swamps, etc...

Its a Sit on Top Kayak

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 5/20/2016

It performs nice as a sit on top kayak, but does not track well when used as a SUP. Requires alternating paddle strokes every 2 strokes unlike a true SUP.

Couldn't be more pleased

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 5/5/2016

I'll try and be brief ! I am VERY new to the kayak scene, and this is the first purchase I have made, so I don't have much to compare it to. That being said, Ill hit on the sell points, that brought it home for me. The Versa Board, is a solid piece of sports equipment. It's well ,made, has a great balance of width and length for stability, and seems to be well suited all levels of expertise. The biggest factors for me, the dual paddle board/kayak feature. I searched many, MANY makes and models, and this was the only company that came with stellar recommendation for both uses. I didn't want anything inflatable, as my dog is my water companion, and I didn't want to risk damaging an expensive board with dog claws :). I opted for pickup at shipping station to save a few bucks, but had no problem loading and tying down the board by myself.

Awesome Board!!!

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 4/28/2016

The versa board is everything I was looking for in a hybrid. The color is exactly like it looked on your website. I was fortunate to find one of your discontinued swivel seats and with the groove kit, not only can I paddle/board around the lake but when its equipped with a fishing pole holder I can fish in a lot of places, others can't!

nice board/kayak

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 3/26/2016

I had it out on the water for the first time today, and I was very pleased. I used it in an area with a slight current (on the Shenandoah River, just above a dam), and I was able to make good headway upstream while SUPing. When I came to some light rapids, I converted my paddle to a twin-blade, and I was able to make it--slowly--in sit-down kayak mode up through the rapids.

At one point (later, SUPing again) I fell over while trying to do something awkward, but I landed on the back of the board and it didn't tip over. It was also stable through some small powerboat wakes.

In short, this is great for my needs: SUPing for a workout and a nicer view, and kayaking when I get tired of standing or I need to make better headway.

I was also very impressed by the shipping speed (ordered over the weekend, and it arrived a few days later), and also with the person on the phone who helped me figure out how to install the seat properly. Instructions would be nice, but this worked out just fine.

New sport for me

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 3/3/2016

The main reason that I bought a Versa Board was to use on flat water and make it a bit more interesting. Prior to buying it, I had been on a paddleboard twice. I already have a Remix 69, so I was accustomed to Liquid logic quality and customer service. I have had a great time with it on flat water, and even a brief Class 2 run. I still need to work on that part!

Versa board in Alaska!

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 12/10/2015

I love my versa board! We have had it almost a year and use it on the ocean and lakes. (I prefer the ocean!) we have fit 2 adults or an adult with 2 children in it with ease. As long as the water is fairly calm. It's exactly what I wanted and needed for our cold wild Alaskan waters. I would recommend to anyone who is interested in a sup that is a craft. Not just a foam board. Tho those are fun in higher waves! I prefer a craft that is strong and safe even around rocks waves and tho occasional orca wale :). Overall very happy with our purchase. We also have a deuce coupe. It's wonderful as well just depends on your preference. My husband prefers to sit. I prefer to stand due to a shoulder injury that makes paddling while sitting painful.

Really good as is, with better hull glide, it could be the best!

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 12/5/2015

Ok, first the pros: I love the minimalistic design; the color and fit and finish are excellent; the sit down comfort with the swivel seat with upgraded first class seat covers is the best in the business; everyone loves it and asks what it is; it's extremely stable and easy to stand on; the transport wheel works great on cement/hard pack; the drop down, spring loaded skeg helps tracking immensely; the weight isn't bad for a kayak; grove track adds easily accessible no-drill accessory mounting locations and it's just a really beautiful kayak in the blue lagoon color! It's great for minimal kayaking/standup going downstream, the ability to sit or stand makes it very versatile and excellent for a full body workout and kids and dogs love the stability and open deck space/design (and adults and fishermen/women too!)
Ok, to be fair, now the cons: The hull glide is pretty awful with this board/yak - when standing, it goes nowhere when your paddle isn't pushing water, and when sitting and paddling, it isn't much better. Open water, wind, current and distances are not your friend and you will tire easily in these conditions; the rear wheel isn't good on soft surfaces; side handles! I always find myself reaching for side handles when moving this board around, and there are none, which makes it much more awkward to move around and makes it seem heavier than it is; while the swivel seat is awesome, the price isn't - $309 for the basic sling version, and then add another $120 or so for the upgraded First Class Seat covers, which makes for a really pricy seat! (Still, it is beyond compare for comfort, and I've owned or tried almost all of them, including the Hobie Vantage seats.)

So my final verdict? This is an excellent minimalist kayak/SUP/all around playboard with great stability and everything you need to have a blast on the water, as long as you don't need to get there quickly or cover great distances in wind and/or current. (And with the swivel seat with First Class Seat covers, you'll do it in style and comfort!) It truly is a Versa Board! Redesign the hull with more glide built into it, and it would be one of my favorite all around paddle kayaks!

Horrible customer service

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 11/26/2015

When I noticed that the Gator Bait Versa Board was out of stock, I sent an email through the customer service link to inquire about if and when the Gator Bait color would be back in stock. I never received any response in regards to this. I ended up ordering the Blue Lagoon and Lizard Lick because I was worried that those would be out of stock soon because of the holidays. 5 Days later my order was still pending so I sent another simple question through the customer service link asking when they would ship. I never received any response in regards to this either. A couple of days later the 2 boards shipped and arrived at the house with no issues. Its funny that a representative won't email me back, but an automated email asking for a review comes with no issues. The only reason that I went ahead and bought another color board for my wife was due to the fact that I had already spent over $600 on 2 swivel seats through Austin Kayak (their customer service was great). Otherwise I would have gone with different boards from a different company. Ridiculous!

hApPy ‘yaker

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 10/19/2015

The Versa Board is perfect for me because I’m short and middle age, so the wheel allows me to maneuver/transport easily, and I like that I can sit or stand depending on my mobility that day. I can’t wait to take it out again this weekend. My only criticism is that the cup holder is not deep enough so my water bottle does not stay in the cup holder. I might also suggest that LiquidLogics make it easier to be able to personally speak with someone at the company instead of communicating primarily through emails.

Great SUP

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 9/11/2015

I recently bought an Orange versa board and after buying myself one my wife wanted one. The pink (Gator Bait) is honestly one of the best colors for male or female. It is just a cool color mixed with the black and grey. We have two dobermans and we take them out on the boards and they perform awesome. With the skeg up you can turn easily and maneuver freely. Drop it down and you can hold a straight line and gain some speed. I have a few white water boats from LL so I knew the quality would be top notch. The plastic had no imperfections. The place where you stand up and sit down are very comfortable and ergonomic. For the money you cannot find a better board. Even if you wanted to pay 1000 dollars this will beat it. With that being said the boards are 50+ pounds so if you are loading ontop of the car you may have issues getting it up by yourself. I'm so used to loading boats it doesn't bother me. Also one thing that would be nice is a different wheel on the back. The wheel functions well but it would be nicer if it was some type of rubber wheel almost like a mountain board wheel. After buying mine, my wife wanted one, after buying her's my dad tried it out, and bought one. After my wife's parents used them they bought two. A total of five boats were sold to my family because of how awesome and versatile they are. That means you, whoever you are, reading this review you need to buy one.

Hello, We absolutely love our

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 9/6/2015

Hello, We absolutely love our two Versa Boards, however we are in need of a new part. The spring loaded keg system broke; we have the spring but not the piece that holds it onto the keel, and the spring broke off of the cable. Can we purchase this part(s) from you, and if so, is it easy to repair ourselves? Thank you, Nancy Sutterfield

The best of both worlds

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 8/11/2015

So happy I researched befor buying a kayak and a paddle board because I found the best, most affordable duo in Liquidlogic’s Versa. I have had it out in the Florida mangroves and the Gulf waters and it has performed magnificently. There is plent of room for storage and carrying dry bags, coolers and an anchor. It even remains stable when I take my Irish setter with me.

Versa Board

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 8/6/2015

the versa boards are great for playing at the lakes and rivers. They are very stable and fun to play on. They are great for being able to easily jump off into the water when you want to and easily climb back on. The versa board is very versatile, allowing you the choice of standing up or sitting down and is easily paddled in either position.

The name says it all! But its not limited..

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 7/29/2015

When i first started looking at Paddleboards to get out on Lake Norman I wanted to buy a Versaboard. Ended up buying a nice tandem kayak so the whole family could go,(wife and 2 young daughters). A year went by and i added the Versaboard to the family. Now, i have to share. Nobody wants the tandem it will be sold and another Versa purchased.
The Versaboard has it all, we strap it to the roof (keeps a low profile) and take it to the Outer Banks for some dolphin watching and riding the waves. It has been to the mountains in WV for creek fishing, the inlet at Ft. Pierce,FL. My 6 year old daughter hops on it and paddles away, my Mom (retired) crossed paddleboarding off her bucketlist, i also take the families 2 dogs out on it.
Very Stable, pretty quick...not fast, tracks decent, excellent weight capacity. Its a jack of all trades.
Family loves it so much, i built brackets for it to hang on the side of the pontoon boat.
i could go on and on...

Versa Board LL 2015 Lizard Lick

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 3/11/2015

LL is awesome! I had a tracking # the same day I ordered my boat. It was at the freight terminal in Atlanta the next day packaged very well & in perfect condition. I chose this paddle board mainly to carry my dog with me. Just what I wanted. I already have a LL Stinger, and may add a Stomper or Flying Squirrel to the heard.
