This was our 1st Kayak purchase and my 2nd time out on or in a Kayak. I absolytely loved this specific one. We looked at multiple styles and brands and this was my final choice to get for my first one. This one glided on the water very smoothly, water wake was not a problem at all and manoverability was easy. We went back out on the River and this one was 10 times better than the one that I used my first time out from our Local kayaking company that you can Rent by the hour. As I become more of a Kayaker and need to up grade I will be looking into a Pelican.

I purchased two Pelican Trailblazer 100NXT kayaks at Dick's Sporting Goods during their 2019 Black Friday sale for only $150 each. I have been extremely happy using them on calm waterways on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Only weigh 35 lbs so easy to carry using one hand. The Kayak included bungee cords on front and read for storage. It also has a padded seat and enclose with foot rests for your feet. I have a Chevy Suburban vehicle and I can slide in these 10ft long Kayaks into my vehicle without having to bungee cord them on top of my vehicle. I taken them at least 10 times and continue to hold up without much wear and tear.

We bought two Trailblazer 100nxt's as well as an Argo 80 to start our family paddling. These are comfortable for a 6 hour river trip, or just paddling around the lake. We've added rod holders and better handles at a fraction of the cost of buying with those accessories installed. So far we really like these little boats!

Well built in general but the foam inserts are crumbly styrofoam akin to cheap packing material, could easily be confused as packing material. I suspect they switched suppliers and didn't maintain quality control on this one part of the kayak. Can't see how the kayak will not leave pieces of styrofoam in the lake, or how the it will not further crumble after a couple of seasons of use. I suppose I could pack a folded noodle in each side as replacement, but not at all clear why they would include such shoddy piece of material in a kayak.

My 12 twins experienced a kayaking day at the local state park last summer and really enjoyed it. I looked around and checked reviews for recreational kayaks and found the Pelican Trailblazer 100NXT to be just in the right price range with good reviews to get the whole family started in the sport. I was able to outfit the four of us for around $1,000! Now the kids are super excited to get away from their electronics for a day on the lake which makes me happy! My wife enjoys it very much also. She has always been afraid of the water and hated my canoe. She loves the independence of the kayak. We have been on the lake several times now with them and are not disappointed with them. They are light, comfortable to sit in and track well. I rate it an A+ to get the family started in a life long outdoor sport!!!

Low-cost investment and great kayak for a beginner or someone who is new to the hobby. I take mine out about 3-5 times a year and it's small enough to store in the garage and I can easily load and unload onto my SUV by myself. I did add some small upgrades like carry handles and oar clips, as it did not come with those.

At some point, I see myself upgrading or passing this onto another family member. I've rented longer kayaks and they are faster and easier to maneuver., but I'm very happy with this purchase.

It floats, it's comfy enough for a few hours paddle, and it's a great beginners kayak. It feels like I'm pushing a wall when I paddle the lake, so 3/5 stars.
