I have a small quiver of boards ranging from my inflatable river board to my 17'4 downwinder. My absolute favorite is the BIC 11'6 ACE-Tec. It's the most versatile and fun to ride and my dog loves it as well. With an easy after market deck pad addition, I can use the entire length of the board with my dog with room to spare. It's my go to whether I'm in the surf or on the calm. I'm a lifelong BIC fan!
Pros
The board is very manageable in waves as tall as 4 ft. I found the stability of the wide deck a plus in the messy Oregon breaks and surprisingly, the ability to turn this big board on the face of a wave. It performs like my 7'8 long board.
Cons
The only improvement I would make to this board was easily remedied with the addition of deck matting. It's way too much board to NOT get on the nose!
Usage
I use this board to surf 4 ft and under waves as well as leisurely paddle the Columbia river and lakes.

This is my first SUP, it has been a lot of fun and seems to handle relatively well although I don't have anything to compare it to. I would say this is an excellent all around board. It is stable enough for a first timer or a kid to get up on it and the best feature is it's toughness, we don't have to worry about this board bumping into rocks or getting dragged over the beach. It is the perfect family board!
Pros
Easy to use and tough enough for kids to play with without you having to worry about anything.
Cons
This is not a performance board, when I travel longer distances I find myself wishing for something that would slice through some of the waves.
Usage
Mostly exercise and light touring.

Nice all purpose board for most people. Rigid and feels every choppy wave along the gulf shore. Stable enough to allow leisurely sightseeing without focusing on every stroke. Cleans easily with water hose rinse.
Pros
Stable enough for most conditions of swell and choppy seas at the gulf of mexico.
Cons
Not a racing hull! About 32 pounds with my leash and fin. Needs tie-downs for life jacket and small bag instead of backpack or fanny pack.
Usage
General saltwater touring and some small surf at the beach.

This is a great recreational board. I would highly recommend this over the entry level (durateck style). this is more stable, and much lighter, while still tough enough. we were worried about pulling up an a pebble beach, but it si actually better than the other style board because it does not dent. This board has been used for short touring (3-5 miles), wakesurfing, fishing, and in bigger waves of the Great Lakes. We love it!
Pros
Very stable, a good weight vs durability board, priced right, and comfortable on the feet.
Cons
nothing
Usage
exercise, fishing, touring.

I took this board out for my very first paddleboarding experience. It was very stable and easy to maneuver, though turning might take a little more time than on a sleeker board. It was a little big for me, I'm 5'2" and 120 lbs, but I still managed just fine. The only difficult time was going against the wind, if you're a small paddler, I'd recommend a sleeker, smaller board, as this is a planing board and thus the wind easily pushed my board back. For flat calm water, I paddled in an inlet in Tampa Bay, it does just fine. My friend who is 6' 2" and 220 lbs paddled it with ease.
Pros
Wide and stable, big board great for taking a cooler or supplies with you on a trek. Not too heavy to carry from car to water.
Cons
Doesn't do well against the wind or on choppier water, such as in the ocean. But only if you're light weight.
Usage
Just padding around shallow water watching manatees in the Tampa Bay, great exercise, it's a full body workout.

We have both the 11'6 and 10'6 BIC ace techs. We love them both! The 11'6 is a bit more stable and can handle more weight. We've used it for goofing around in the Bay with the kids and for SUP yoga all summer. It had taken a beating getting carried from the house to the beach and whacking into things but shows hardly any wear. I love that you can sand down the rails when it starts to get dinged up. The newer deck pad is also very nice. Perfect for SUP yoga! I teach the class and usually use the 11'6 for newbies because of the great stability of the board. Another thing I love about it that it is relatively light and very easy to carry for it's size. I wouldn't trade it for any other board! I highly recommend it!
Pros
Stability, durability, easy to carry, easy to paddle/steer
Cons
Nada!
Usage
Exercise, touring, kids diving off of!

The board is very stable and duriable from my expierence. The tie down options are a bit sparse but that shouldn't be an issue for people using this as a recreational board. Great intro board.
Pros
Stable, durable, comfortable leash, pad that covers a large area of deck
Cons

Great stability for 200lb+ crowd. I'm 230 and I'm glad I bought this board. I'm 56 and new to Paddleboarding. This has been a great fit for me and my family. Used mostly for bay and river, this board handles it all. It is light enough for my wife and kids(15 and 18) to put on the car and go!
Pros
Handling. Weight. Deck pad. Looks--simple but nice. Transporting is easy.
Cons
Not really any. If I were to nitpick, I wish it had more bungee tie downs, and maybe a go pro mount!

Pros

Cons

Great all around board. good floatation, ease of turning and stability. Extremely versital for lakes, mild surf and calm flowing streams. Reasonable pricing and low weight at thirty pounds, this board is the most durable on the market making for years and years of use and abuse. Made in France with modern factory techniques and unit to unit consistancy, Not as fancy as custom made fiberglass or carbon fiber boards.
Pros
Value, Durability, all around use for beginner, intermediate or expert in many conditions
Cons

I rode this board for a week in Grace Bay,Turks & Caicos. The board is very stable in small rolling ocean waves, A very nice cruiser and easily accommodates 2 people. I've been paddling for over a year, and have a smaller board (9'6") that I use at home in So Cal. This is a great board for beginners as I saw a lot of first timers paddle without falling off.
Pros
Very stable in the ocean and picks up a good amount of speed with the wind at your back. Glides smoothly across open water.
Cons
The board has a very large turning radius and makes a hollow sound when being slapped by the waves. Can also be hard to paddle against the wind and current.
Usage
I used the board for touring, exploring reefs, and looking for fish while getting experience on the ocean. I had loads of fun and got a great workout too!

Love this board! Durable, light, and stable.
Pros
This board is lighter than my 10'6" board. It is fast and very stable. All of this and it is very durable. It is much more resistant to bumps and dings than my epoxy boards.
Cons
White color tends to stain if exposed to dirty river and lake water and not washed off quickly.
Usage
Mostly I use this board for touring rivers, lakes, streams and bays. I have raced it on Lake Gaston, N.C. in an event called "The Crossing" and actually finished first 2 years running for SUP's.
