Well, I purchased this yak…

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 11/30/2021

Well, I purchased this yak for totally wrong reasons. I Dont fish, but do a lot of recreational long distance paddling. I took it out on Etowah river for an 8 mile paddle in windy conditions. While its stability and comfort is par excellent, the yak is a behemoth to paddle. My shoulders were terrifically aching by the time I completed the paddle. It was difficult catching up with my group who were on field & stream and liquidlogic XP10- both considered slow for flat water.

The other time I took it out was on Suwanee river down the dam. At one time, I tried standing up and toppled over. The kayak seat straps broke and I had to paddle the remaining distance sitting like on a stool without resting my back. This time, both my shoulders & back was terribly hurting.

The length of the boat is just short of 12 ft and the rear end hull has two molded keels. It increases the drag on the water and the Kayak spins and stops the moment you stop paddling. Probably you may use this yak for leisurely fishing in a 500 ft radius which involves minimum paddling. Or it may take-on a motor. Either way, it isnt meant for paddling; but could be used as a platform for fishing. I never found a sincere review of this yak on any of the site, else wudnt have gone for this waste of money.

Finally, I put it up for sale for what ever I get just to get rid of it.

I have had this kayak for just over 2 years now and it is great! It is very stable in rough water and when standing. It is also very comfortable to paddle for long distances, however it is not the quickest of the kayaks out there. There is plenty of room in both the front hold and behind the seat. I have used it to go on 3 day camping excursions without a problem. My Golden Retriever can behind the seat and jump off and more importantly, get back on! Very happy with my purchase.

After a day on the lake with the Pelican Catch 120 my review is simple. This Kayak has Great stability, I love the deck padding it helps to keep traction when i stand up, I can stand on it no problem . The Scotty gear track mounts are amazing and the Storage platform with bungee cords held my tackle box in place with no issues all. im 6ft 1 i can say that i had plenty of legroom i don't feel cramped at all. the Seat that comes with it is quite comfortable coming from someone with back issues if i'm able to fish in this kayak for 6+ hours with no complaints anyone can. Catching Catfish and bass in this kayak is a breeze. this angler kayak is the best one that i have ever been on the lake with. needless to say im very impressed.

Seat is very comfortable. Stable to fish out of without breaking the bank. Do not have many things to complain on this boat. Do wish Pelican made a peddle drive boat, but I believe one is coming out soon if it has not already.
