I was looking to replace my Scrambler 11 with the Malibu 11.5 as I liked the increase in capacity from 325 pounds to 360.

After owning numerous Ocean Kayaks over the past 20 years I just bought it without trying it first - big mistake.

it paddles like a leaf on the water going wherever it wants regardless of input from me

After second time out I sold it and bought a NOS Prowler 13.

If you want an upgraded Ocean Kayak this isn’t it.

If you want a safe, stable kayak you can float on a river or lake, then it’s a good buy.

What a tremendous letdown. We have owned many Ocean Kayaks over the years and I was smitten by the Malibu 11.5 in Ahi color, so I sold my Trident 13 and bought the Malibu. This so-called kayak will not track in the slightest quartering wind, it’s probably the most difficult to paddle kayak I’ve ever had the displeasure to paddle. You may want to use a canoe paddle, you’ll be paddling in one side only in a wind. It also sports a horrid bow slap, has no paddle clip or way to attach one. It is stable and would float a horse. Overall, if this was my first Ocean Kayak, it would be my last. For the price, you get an oversized milk bottle that paddles like one, albeit colorful. I suggest the Johnson Outdoors rename it to the Malibarge.

This kayak is poorly constructed for the price. The seat back mount pulled out of the boat on the first use because it was installed incorrectly during manufacturing. I waited months for this boat to ship. There are no replacement kayaks available because the Ocean Kayak is sold out, seven hundred dollars down the drain.

The seats are pretty low quality for a boat this price! The Tracking!?!? Seriously!! No one who has actually given this better than a 3 star review has actually paddled this kayak around or they were paid off! This boat does NOT track at all! Stop paddling and it turns...... the fact that Ocean Kayak says it tracks well is absurd!! They are lying!! You can not notice that it tracks! PERIOD!! Not over exaggerating what so ever! It really is the worst tracking boat you can buy!!!

Altogether amazing! First of all, it is a gorgeous kayak with some nice amenities like drink cups and a dry stash box. It is easy to maneuver, although it is long. On my first days out in a few year, I was able to do many things I didn't think I would.
