this is great for people who have difficulty getting in and out of a kayak. With 4 spine surgeries and a knee replacement I continue enjoying this water sport.

We now own 2 of these Future Beach Explorer sit on top kayaks and I anticipate purchasing more when my kids are big and experienced enough to pilot their own. These kayaks pack great value for the money. They are relatively easy to handle, steer, and row and are perfect for slow moving river floats. The are comfortable (though I would recommend an upgraded seat or seat pad for 2+ hour floats) and have plenty of room for either a single adult and lots of gear or an adult and small child. I am 6' 2" and 225 lbs and have plenty of room to stretch out and move around as the trip floats along. These boats are very stable and the fact they they are self draining is also nice. As a low priced kayak, they seem to be well made and durable and parts are cheap and easy to find if needed. I find these sit on tops to be more comfortable and flexible than my friend's sit inside kayaks and recommend them to anyone.

I'm a big guy at 270lbs. This kayak still rides high with my weight plus my gear. I built outriggers, but, they really arent needed. It's so stable, you would have to make an effort to tip it. It's also very easy to modify. I have added 2 flush mount rod holders, 2 cleats, a paddle clip, an anchor trolley system, lots of eyes to tether everything, & outriggers. Paddles easily & tracks well. Makes a great angler kayak with little effort & i've already been offered a lot more than what i have invested. No way i would sell it.

For the money it's been a good Kayak, very stable and tracks well. This is a perfect kayak for kids getting into the sport without breaking the bank.

Great Kayak!

Submitted by: Steven-Sowle on 8/3/2017

My weight: 196 lbs. Height: 6'1". I just purchased a Future Beach 10.4 Sit On kayak from Dunham's for $179.00 (no paddles) after doing a ton of research. I was a little leery of buying one because several reviewers said it sits low in the water with the 4 scupper plugs removed. Well, after tooling around for half a day on the Oconto River in Wisconsin, I can say "Not true!" I weigh almost 200 lbs. and although a bit of water squirts up on your rear if you plop down hard upon entering, it's not an issue. Same for the front 2 scupper holes . . . bounce up and down and you'll see the water rise in the holes, but any water that gets into the boat drains right out. The foot wells are long enough for my 6'1" frame, even if I stretch my legs all the way straight. The seat back stays where you set it and is fairly comfortable. I might, however, get a little foam pad to lean back against for a bit of cushion for longer excursions. I bought the sit on model because in the unlikely event you do swamp it, you can jump back on and be back on your way. (Swamp a sit in kayak and you'll have to swim for shore with your submersed kayak in tow! I rented a sit in and found out the hard way!) Anyhow, this baby is super stable! You won't tip over unless you want to. You can even sit side saddle while dangling your feet in the water! Getting in is easy as heck and it floats high in the water. There are no tracking issues what-so-ever, and it moves straight and is easy to paddle. Speed at a sustainable paddling pace is about the same as a slow jog on land which means you clip right along! The hull seems to have a great design that finds a happy medium between stability/speed. There is a molded in drink holder and there is a good size front storage area with bungee cord keepers as well as a rear storage area that is custom made to accommodate a milk crate or 5-gallon bucket. It's a no frills boat, but has a great, customizable design if you should you want to add rod holders etc. in the future. You won't regret buying this kayak!

I am a big guy and I love this little boat

Submitted by: WPage on 6/9/2017

Caveat, this is my first kayak I have owned, but I love this little guy. I am 6'3" and about 220 lbs, this is the perfect boat to be able to throw on top of my car and go fishing after work. It is only about 45 lbs, and ok to manage by myself. If you are on calm water, you can plug the scupper holes and stay reasonably dry. It is easy to maneuver.

Nice Kayak for the money. Tracks pretty good, only real downside is no paddle holder but that was a easy fix; can buy one from Walmart under $5 dollars - Amazon had a few too.

I recently purchased this SOT kayak from Dunham's on sale for $179 and it is worth every penny! It's not the fastest kayak on the water but it is incredibly stable, tracks well and has a 300lb weight capacity. The kayak weighs 43lbs so it can be carried on top of a vehicle pretty easily.

This last weekend I was out on the local lake with some with some boats kicking up 2+ foot high swells and the kayak handled it like a champ! I barely even got wet! Plus there is tons of storage space on this yak. I'm planning to buy a second one for my wife. The molded seat is pretty comfortable. There are scupper holes in the seat, but if put in the included plugs you should stay nice and dry.
