Coosa FD Description

The Coosa FD is based on the top selling Coosa HD hull and deck layout but adds a long-awaited Flex Drive system (patent pending) allowing for hands-free propulsion. The new Flex Drive System offers forward and reverse operation and includes a unique articulating system for deep and shallow water navigation. A daggerboard protected tri-blade propeller combined with articulation gives the Flex Drive a performance increase over other drives and helps with keeping the system clear of obstacles and easy to clean. The Coosa FD comes with the fore-aft trimming and our Hi-Lo Elite Seat System giving it flexibility in seating positions that puts the pedaler in the most comfortable position possible. The Flex Drive is easily deployed with the flip of a lever, has adjustable pitch, a 1:12 ratio and will be upgradable to a new motor drive system available in 2018. The Coosa FD has all the the features of the best-selling Coosa HD, from rod tip protection system to gear track surrounding the Ergo Seat and more. The combination of one of the best designed all-around kayaks and the new Flex Drive makes this a leading combination for hands-free kayak angling!

This is an amazing fishing…

This is an amazing fishing tool. with the ability to control distance while drifting perpendicular with the bank one can be super efficient. I fish stumpy water as much as I can, so its really nice to have the skeg and prop fold up into the boat when hitting a tree.

I bought this kayak for fishing and exploring. The boat is well built although a bit on the heavy side. This is not a boat you want to portage unless you're in good shape. The foot drive is awesome and even with the old three blade prop it is much faster than other kayaks in this class without foot drive. The skeg on the bottom of the lower unit does scrape when you're in less than two feet of water. This also causes deterioration of the molded plastic skeg. I plan to lay on some fiberglass in this area to reinforce it in the future. The boat is stable and a real pleasure when fishing because you can control the boat location and orientation with reference to current or wind. I would highly recommend this boat for heavier anglers. However, this is not a "car top" boat. If you do buy one plan on buying a trailer as well.

I've had the coosa fd for 2…

I've had the coosa fd for 2 years now. The boat is super stable and setup nicely for fishing. It's not bad to paddle either. The biggest issue is tracking, it's horrific. There is no such thing as hands free fishing/pedaling. There is a new rudder coming from boondox..hoping that will help. Also I have had issues with the drive and water. The biggest issue if you are looking at buying it is Jackson's complete lack of customer service. The do not respond to calls nor email. They do not acknowledge that there are any issues.

Note..Jackson is completely redesigning the drive due to reliability issues. I'd stay away from this one for now.

I love my Jackson Kayak…

I love my Jackson Kayak Coosa FD! I had been watching videos after video on Jackson's website and on Youtube. I couldn't decide on it until I demoed one. I will say I am super happy with my choice of kayak and will never look back! If you haven't tried the Jackson Kayak Coosa FD get ahold of your closest dealer and demo one, right now.
