I had been renting kayaks for years and last summer I finally got my own. I found this in stock at my local Canadian Tire and got them to price match to save $100 (original price $749). So I took it out all summer and have concluded : The Argo kayak is very stable, easy to get in, lightweight, good looking and is a good recreational fishing kayak. It's not very fast and it doesn't do great in choppy conditions in open water. If you are sticking close to shore and paddling more inland lakes, rivers and ponds then this is great. The cockpit has a small tray you can mount your phone with the attached bungee cord. Plenty of nice little comfort features. Removable chair is convenient. Although I did find it to lack sufficient lower back support paddling around 2 hours. Which was unfortunate because I wanted to go for day long paddles.
i bought the wrong kayak... I wanted something faster that could do well in more choppy open water conditions. So I sold the Argo to a lovely older couple who wanted something more leisurely. They're not looking to rip it out on the water so this will be a very good vessel for a long time for them.
Today I went out and purchased another Pelican, this time a Sprint 120XR caught it on a great deal ... it's not quite paddling season here but stay tuned for my review on that.
