High quality; durable; reasonably light; and CHEAP: What more can you ask for in a tent?
SPECS: Wt 4 lbs 15 oz (tent, fly, and poles); 54" x 84" x 42" high; 31.5 sq. ft.
The Camp Dome 2 is an awning-style rather than vestibule tent. Some people feel that vestibules provide better rain protection. I've had the Camp Dome in hard rain that lasted all night and stayed dry. The fly comes down fairly low over the doors, and the doors have an additional waterproof panel. It's a lot easier to enter and exit an awning-style tent, and they have a better view.
This tent has very good ventilation via two large windows and mesh panels at each end and on the top. It sets up easily in about 2 minutes. The Camp Dome is about 1 lb; heavy for backpacking, but that is not an issue for kayak camping. Part of the weight comes from the durable materials.
The price of the Camp Dome is amazing for the quality---just $99.50.
This tent has 102 reviews at REI.com, averaging 4.3 stars out of 5. People report that it survived severe weather conditions.
I agree! For kayak camping, the Camp Dome 2 rates a 10.
