Launched at Cedar Tree Landing near Ebro FL up the Choctawhatchee River to Holmes Creek and Spring Run. The river was muddy and running. The high water allowed us to paddle back into calmer water amongst the magnificent old growth cypress trees to take a break. A nice guy in a motor boat saw us paddling against the strong spring current and asked if we were okay. Gave us directions to get to a remarkably clear spring up Holmes Creek. the current was tricky at the creek mouth but once we got past that, it was easy paddling back to the spring. We had it to ourselves for awhile then a bunch of teenagers showed up in motor boats so we left. An awesome cypress swamp. Saw some swallow tailed kites.
