Bull shoals SP campground to Cotter

A self-supported trip created by Debbieyaks

Trip Overview

This 15.8 mile paddle took me 4 hours 15 min. Not hard but pretty consistent. Water was low when started then another generator turned on at dam and eventually got better. I would suggest waiting to start until at least two generators are running. If you want to have shorter paddle, white hole (soon after Stetson resort and white hole resort) is about an hour and half down on right. Wildcat shoals is 2 1/2 - 3 hours on left (big open obvious ramp). If water low, stay to the right of the narrow islands about 10 minutes before wildcat. Cotter take out is on the left. You will pass under two steel bridges positioned in a V. Both have arches but the first are more flat and the second bridge has several rounded arches. You can’t miss it.

Safety Notes

Watch for shallow areas and submerged Large rocks.

Gear Notes

Standard

Conditions

Go when power plant if pumping at least 2 or more generators

Portage Notes

I didn’t read the river and chose the wrong path and go stuck in rocks. If level higher would have been ok.
