7/2/2020 DEC reservoir open for paddling, non motorised boats and fishing. Water is generally flat but becomes choppy with higher winds. Circumventing is about ten miles in 4 hours. There’s a small island in the northern section with heavy brush along its perimeter. Nothing of major interest on the island. Just below the island is Manor Kill Falls. It’s beautiful!!! Below Snyder’s Cove is the reservoir station and outlet to aqueduct to NYC, where the approach is restricted. The Schoharie Creek flows into the reservoir on the southern end. Nice rock formations and cliffs in that region, but deeper into the channel the water level drops to ankle depth. You must have a DEC permit and your vessel MUST be steam cleaned by a service. https://a826-web01.nyc.gov/rec... Room for 10+ cars.
