Description
In The 1870s, the Corps of Engineers designed and dredged the government ditch at Caddo lake to provide a shortcut for steamboat traffic to Jefferson, Tx, which was a major port in the area. This cut miles off the journey. I solo kayaked this iconic area yesterday, and it is a haunting place, especially before the cypress foliage comes on. Quiet and peaceful, other than the sounds of birds and fish jumping.Location & Directions
