After a disastrous salesperson advice and purchase, followed by swift sale, of a surfski(as family member didn’t want to “sit in”) we tested and bought the Zegul Easy. Huge cockpit with very easy entry/exit took away any hesitance of the “sit in” feeling. The short and wide makes you think it will be slow and hard to turn, but it is far from it. No problem keeping a pace of 5km/h and as it is equipped with kajaksports quality rudder turns with the tip of your toes.
Then, where and when do you go out in the Easy? Well, pretty much anywhere although not anytime. If you like going out in meter high waves in open sea conditions I would think again as it is not like its sibling the Zegul arrow Play which is built for fun in ruffer conditions. As the cockpit is large it will be filled with quite a bit of water if you capsize and will be tough to empty, doing a selfrescue procedure. Recommended is to purchase a made-to-order Reed chillcheater spray deck that will really keep water out while sunny side is up.
Having said this, packing the Easy for 3-4 day trip in the Swedish archipelago is a zinch! One compartment in the rear and possibility to have a water tight bag or 2 in the cockpit in front of your toes(although this was not needed for our tours so far) a clip-on fore deck bag is good for the snack and camera needs.
Superb of course for day outings and feel like you could load a couple of cases of beer(alcohol free naturally) on the aft deck and chill out with your feet on the fore deck;-)
Deck lines have rerouted as the loosened in 2 places.
