This kayak is amazingly fun. My wife and I usually paddle upriver through some shoals but have also made longer one-way downriver treks through a series of class I-II stuff.
Paddling in the slow sections of the river with the skag down is nice. You can still tell it is a cross-over but it tracks much better than a single cross-over and we maintain a great pace. Singles can't keep up. Going through shoals is not as different in the tandem as we thought it would be. The boat is unexpectedly maneuverable for its size. We can peel out, surf a little, and have some fun.
The other reviewer cited the weight of the kayak as a big negative. The specs say 90 lbs which didn't sound very heavy. This is the heaviest 90 lbs you will ever encounter! Feels more like 90 kgs...(I weighed it - it's 90lbs). I can haul this thing around with another larger person with some serious effort but my wife is too small to help carry or load this thing. Have to solve with a trolly and a system of padding for your vehicle rooftop to shimmy the boat onto the racks. If you have a trailer - you'll be happier. But this is a DURABLE tandem with a healthy amount of WW DNA. If it weighed less we would have broken it by now so I can't complain.
