I have a much older ocean…
I have a much older ocean explorer fishing kayak that I love. Much more narrow, fast but still stable. I have newer kayaks and a pedal drive and it is still my go to kayak.
I decided to upgrade to a newer model with a bit more stability so I can stand to fish without my pedal drive because that can be a problem in oyster beds or the shallows. My new prowler big game is 6" wider. Extremely stable. Downside...I have to work extremely hard to cover the same distance. It is like paddling a barge. My 24" cooler doesn't fit! Big, wider kayak but the cooler that fits on my other ocean explorer kayak doesn't fit. This is a "big game" kayak without a place for my cooler. Debating selling it. Thank goodness I kept my old one.
We love our Ocean Prowler Big…
Hey all, I’m a dainty 400lbs,…
I have had this kayak for…
I have had this kayak for six months and thoroughly enjoy the amount of storage space and stability of this vessel. It has a 600 lb capacity so a lot of stuff can be packed into this kayak for camping trips. I am a big man and still have 200+ lbs of capacity space for my trips.
Ive had this kayak for over…
Ive had this kayak for over 2 years and couldnt be more happy with it. I can load it up with all my fishing gear and still afford to load it for overnight extras because of the storage and high weight capacity. Perfect yak for angler, hunter, and/or the adventurer.
This is my 2nd kayak kinda…
This is my 2nd kayak kinda my 3rd my wife has one and i used that one also both are sit in wilderness yaks. i am giving my son my yak and i bought the bg2 this kayak is great very stable and very comfortable handles rough water well and glides smoothly along.
I enjoy this Kayak, it…
I enjoy this Kayak, it tracks well, it's pretty stream line and has a low draft to get into hard areas.
I know they've changed the center console on the newer versions (mine is the one piece) It's nice in theory but it's lack luster in practice. It has lots of storage area, yet has no way of organizing it. If you were crashing surf I can see the usefulness of storing rods there. I wish that the rudder was a reasonable price also. It's a great candidate for a rear trolling motor/rudder kit. I have added a stabilizing set up to it as I'm not the best at balancing apparently. I'd say it's pretty stable not hobie stable though.
Great kayak for duck…
Great kayak for duck hunting. Stable enough to shoot from, tracks very well without any need for the rudder. Set up great to be able to customize. Only drawback is the kayak is indeed heavy, but that’s something I can deal with along as I have a $30 set of kayak wheel carrier to transport it around.
Hyped to the max
Im a real kayal fisherman I live on the mosquito lagoon I paddle 4 times a week... first of this thing is built well holds a a ton of weight and paddles like a barge its a barge when your my size 6"3 300 you get the barge it is what it is.
Now theres no cooler made for this theres no live well made for this no extras you want extra figure it out pretty much, im not a fan of rattling so fitting custom parts like these is a bit difficult but doable however if these people who make a kayak to be considered their "flagship fiahing machine" im pretty sure these things shoulds be made, honestly say you catch that nice fish and actually gonna take it home this time well i hope your close to the ramp/launch cause you aint gonna put it in a cooler cause it aint gonna fit. They show you pictures of these guys catching mahi off of them and yeah its a great stable offshore kayak but now that you have put gaft threw dinner and are 5 miles offshore should be awfully tasty after the hour or so paddle back without a fish bag that you hope has stayed in a spot that you can reach it in the hull.... just disappointed with acc. Ive owned 5 ocean kayaks 2 drifters, malibu 2 prowler,pbg2 built buy this johnson corp and i should have just kept it real this time and just bought the ghenoo fir when i wanna go buy myself sometimes tried and true should be stuck with.... oh and i did try the big hobie with foot drive and it floated me very smoothly i believe the capacity is way underrated
A kayak even for small people
I'm 54 yrs old and had many fishing kayaks - this one I like best. Paddles easy and I'm a small guy. Reviews are to be taken with a grain of salt... it's more stable the Predator MX or Ride 115 that I owned, and paddles better then both. super seat and mine is a 2017 with the new mod pod that's a great improvement over the older style. Ocean fishing is great with bg2
I enjoy the foot holders,…

I bought my Prowler Big Game…
It's a stable boat and I can stand up to fish and not feel like it will tip over. The seat is comfortable and I can spend an entire day on the water and not experience back pain. It paddles well and has space for all my fishing gear and supplies. It even has room for a camp stove which I bring with me sometimes to cook shore lunch.
In conclusion the Prowler Big Game II is a great fishing kayak which is sure to give me many more years of enjoyment.

I purchased my Prowler Big…
If you are a kayak angler looking for exceptional quality, ease of paddling and control, plenty of storage and gear options at the best prices available then this is your kayak!
After a considerable amount…
Since the craft is rated at a 550 lb capacity it is more than capable of floating me, all of my fishing gear, extra fishing gear, both wiener dogs, the kitchen sink, and an anvil. I generally opt out of hauling the sink and anvil, and even the wiener dogs in an effort to make launching and trailering easier. But, it's still capable of hauling all of it should I decide I need to. It's more than capable of carrying even the largest of men (providing you don't weigh over 550 lbs.).
The Big Game II is large compared to many kayaks but it is roomy and comfortable. It has 6 mounting brackets mounted on the gunwales, both fore and aft of the seat, making it unnecessary to drill holes in your kayak to mount your favorite rod holder, fish finder, camera mount, beer keeper, TV stand….well, you get the picture. It also has more than ample storage with a huge bow hatch, open rear trunk, and ModPod center hatch (on which you can also mount so many accessories that it would look like the antenna array on the roof of a Russian Embassy).
I found the rear trunk roomy enough to hold both my milk crate (containing all the stuff that I may or may not use) and a small soft sided ice chest (which contains stuff that I will most definitely use). The Element Seating System is fantastic. Even in the low position, my butt stayed dry paddling across a semi rough lake. It is much more comfortable than any of the other kayak seats I test sat and it is capable of placing in the low position for maximum stability, the high position for best fish-ability, or it can be folded up at the rear of the cockpit making more room for standing up to fish or scout the terrain. Yes, I said standing up! I had difficulty believing that any kayak would be stable enough to stand up in until I did it myself on my first time out on the Big Game II (which was also my first time out on a kayak of any kind). I not only stood up, but I turned completely around and reached into the trunk, all without falling out or dumping the kayak over. Having never been an acrobat, and generally having the agility of a drunken wart hog, I was really impressed by the stability. I still wear a PFD as I know if it can be turned over, I'm the one to do it.
There is a pack on the back of the seat that is perfect for holding two fishing tackle utility boxes. It has an abundance of storage space compared to most of the kayaks I considered before buying the Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game II. It is heavier than many of the smaller kayaks at 70 lbs, but I can manage to get it off my trailer and back on without ripping a shoulder out of socket or dropping an important man part.
In the water it doesn't have the agility of dolphin but it turns within a reasonable circumference and moves along at a pretty good clip. It's not a racing Yak but I did feel the wind in my hair….or I would have if I still had hair…and it tracked straight.
I'm not an expert kayaker, but as a novice I'm certainly impressed with the Big Game II and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a fishing kayak with plenty of room and stability.

After a considerable amount…
Being a bit past my prime at 57 years old, slightly overweight, but still ambitious and adventurous enough to want to try something new; I wanted a fishing kayak, but I wanted one that I was not so likely to turn over, swamp, or bring about my premature death by drowning. The Big Game II fit the bill perfectly.
