This is a very effective knife and I have do you agree that the locking mechanism does hold the knife in place. However with that said it also makes it rather difficult to release sometimes. Well I do think the design of the blade is the best for boaters out there and I do enjoy all the many features that this knife has like the bottle opener in the glass breaker and stuff it’s the fact that sometimes I have to put in a little extra effort to get the knife into my hand when I need it which is why I’m only going to give this a four star rating. It does come out of the box very sharp and it keeps its edge. I currently have this on my fishing PFD and use it for that purpose mainly .
