The life jacket is very comfortable. It comes with a couple pockets and a whistle. It has the standard adjustable straps but I bought this vest because it zips up in the front.

This is similar to the Astral V8 without the $119 price tag. the sizing seems to be the same as the Astral. This is for the dynamic model, not the torsion.

This is a great PFD, the fit, adjustability and price were all in a desirable range. The only thing I would change is having a larger or more pockets. The flotation in the back sits up high enough so it does not interfere with the kayak seat back no matter how high it is set at. I also like the shoulder straps have no flotation, keeping the fit and air flow comfortable, this is a much cooler design then having flotation in the shoulder straps. With the design, mesh and venting used this PFD never causes over heating. Two seasons old and no signs of wear, this is with 5-6 mile outings two or three times a week, May though October. Picked this up at Sports Authority with an in store coupon for $48

I have borrowed several PFD's, and now I've bought the Onyx MoveVent Torsion and am very pleased. I tried several women's PFD's but they offered little actual 'relief' for the money. The Onyx adjusts so that I can cinch in at the waist and lower torso for proper safety and leave room at the top for 'breathing'! The mesh back is nice and cool- I could feel the air moving across my back as I paddled. Front ventilation also worked great.

As others have said, arm clearance is such that you barely know you are wearing it. I have a Carolina 12 with a high seat back and the PFD padding cleared it perfectly. The front pockets do not have as much gusseting as more expensive PFD's, however it dawned on me that if I go in the water, I don't want the extra weight and I don't need the extra protrusions when I am clawing my way back into the boat! Ladies, I wear size 12 to get around my chest, but I needed the S-XS in this PFD in order to close around my waist.

I have not yet needed it to float me, but it is a Type III PFD (as are most rec PFD you buy) and the padding layout looks like it will hold me face up and head up. A great value for the price!

Absolutely great PFD. It is comfortable and the high back fits great with my kayak seat. The shoulders are open and it looks good. The only recommendation would be to stay away from the darker grey and go with the lighter one; it can get hot in the sun. Other than that I would recommend it to anyone and I have. I own 3

I searched around for a low-cost, quality high-back PFD, and I stumbled upon the Onyx MoveVent vests. I was originally going to purchase the Dynamic vest, but found the Torsion online for not much more money, so of course, I went with the "better" pfd!

I really like the high back of this vest, with my rec kayak seat back, I can raise or lower the seat to my liking, as this vest does not interfere! The vest fits well, I wear a L size mens shirt, which fit a bit loose, and the M/L vest fits great snugged down! My arms are free to move and paddle, and the vest almost feels like its not even there. I really like the fact Onyx incorporates a whistle into the vest via a lanyard, small addition but EVERY PFD sold should have an attached whistle!

If you're on a budget, I would take a look at the Onyx MoveVent line up. I like mine, and would buy it again!
