Big Rig Description
The Big Rig offers big stability for anglers that deserve a model to help them feel comfortable in a smaller watercraft and even stand and fish from one! If this kayak was much wider we might have to call it a boat, but our design team kept it at just the right specs for the Big Rig to maintain the performance of a kayak with the stability of a boat. They also crafted the hull for reliable, efficient performance in most kayak fishing situations - lakes, ponds, rivers, inshore saltwater bays or marshes - so no matter where you go the Big Rig is ready to make you feel comfortable there!

This is my second kayak…
This is my second kayak after first one I bought used had leaks in scupper holes. It filled with water, flipped and I nearly drowned. Since then I bought the jackson hd fd and can say the best kayak ever. Very stable and lots of storage. And just fyi I'm 6 foot tall and 340 pounds. This kayak is perfect for big guys. Love it!

BIG RIG for a BIG GUY. I'm a 6'7" 370lb little guy :). I recently bought a 2019 Big Rig HD and absolutely love this thing. I never thought I would feel this stable/comfortable on a kayak ever! Just like most big guys I do have lower back problems but I feel completely comfortable in this seat, in both the upper and lower positions. I actually prefer the upper position. If you happen to be a slightly larger than average individual like myself I highly recommend to at least do a demo ride and feel the comfort for yourself. P.S I am able to stand up with ease!
The Jackson Big Rig is an amazing kayak for fishing or just being on the water!
I have owned large Ocean & Wilderness kayaks in the past and this one is by far the best! This Kayak has everything a kayaker or fisherman would want! I weigh 200lbs and this thing is so stable and easy to stand up in and has tons of accessible storage, Love it!
Not my first kayak, But this…
I will trailer it to make it easier to handle alone, But for now I can get it on and off the roof rack alone.(figure out a rope trick)
The Big Rig has lots of storage, and once I get home I just pack everything up in the kayak and it's all right there waiting for me next time I go out. For me it tracks and paddles straight even without a rudder. It's a smooth ride easy to get in and out of.
This is opening up bunch of new fishing spots for me. I absolutely love fishing out of it.
If you're a bigger person I would say go try one on for size, you have nothing to lose and I would bet you'll buy it.

My new Big Rig from Jackson is perfect, I can sit and have free movement and stand when needed, the stand up bar is great now that my balance is off. It's heavy but with my low trailer and kayak dollies I am good with help. It paddles like a lighter kayak, has extra space for gear, fishes like a dream, I am glad I chose the big rig and have never regretted it. I would recommend the rudder attachment and a electric motor to anyone in my condition or older folks, I call it my handicap kayak, but hey I still can get out and enjoy life so that makes this kayak a winner in my book.
I know it was probably designed for the heavier kayakers out there but it is a dream for slow rivers and lakes,my dad has one also he has been retired for several years so be is getting up there in age but loves his Big Rig also.

Although it is fairly large, I had no trouble keeping up with my friends when there are two people in a canoe paddling hard. My only issue with it is that it is fairly heavy, but I am still able to load it myself on top of my SUV. Otherwise, it is the perfect fishing platform.

The seat can be used in two positions, high and low. I usually keep it in high position, unless I need more power for going against current or tide. The seat is the most comfortable kayak seat I have ever placed my tail end on...and it stays dry. The ability to stand for sight fishing or just to stretch out is amazing. You can use a strap to help yourself stand up but I have found if you have the seat in the high position you can just stand up.
The stand up bar was useful in the beginning before I came to realize how stable the boat is. Sort of nice to lean against when taking a picture but am considering taking it out as it sometimes gets in the way.
The kayak moves and tracks well on the water. It is very maneuverable and has a decent glide after your last stroke. But, do not expect to win any races with it. To pay for the stability you have to give up speed. In any group I have been with on the water I will be tail end Charlie. But to me, that is a price I am willing to pay for feeling comfortable in my kayak.
My only area of discomfort with this kayak is the weight. I went into it knowing it was heavy, about 100 pounds, and it is just difficult to move around on land. I have good racks on my car and have to put a blanket on the back of the car to slide it up onto the racks. It is easier getting it into the back of a pick up truck but is just generally cumbersome on land. If your launch point is a good distance from where you park then I suggest you get some wheels for it.
Overall, this is a great kayak for someone who enjoys a day of fishing or just a comfortable day on the water!
