I have had this kayak for 6 years or more. I absolutely love it. I have had it on 3 night/ 4 day trips. There was enough storage for camping gear food beer camera sleeping bag and more!
That’s why I really love this kayak. It’s great for long trips.
For the price though, the storage is NOT waterproof. But you can easily seal it up yourself. I had mine completely waterproof within a couple hours. Seal the rear storage wall with expanding foam and a tri polymer roofing sealant. And the rivets on the locking lids with tri polymer sealant. And you’re good to go.
Also. You can easily replace two of the tow strap screws with stainless eye bolts for easier towing, hanging or strapping down.
Also comes with a extra cord strap on the side for a light fishing pole. Perfect!
handles great in the rapids. I often go down backwards, fishing because it’s so stable. Granted I haven’t done any class 4 in it. But for the money. This is the best kayak I’ve seen. Love it.

I agree with the first reviewer of this Vortex 124 Kayak. I too bought mine from OSJL for 399.00 in CT. A very reasonable price, so my expectations weren't too high, but then again I'm not an experienced kayaker. We had a tandem kayak for years and my sons grew out of using it - it was too heavy and too large for me to handle on my own, so I sold it and bought this one. I am more than pleased with the quality. It's very stable, glides through the water, has great storage compartments and tie downs for gear. The seat if pretty comfortable and it's light enough for me to load onto my SUV alone; what more could I ask for! I typically take it on the river nearby my house and even going against the tide, it is easy to maneuver.

I recently purchased two Kayaks from OSJL in RI. I was into kayaking many years ago as a teenager. Later on I got interested in canoes until I got a bit too busy and gave away my last canoe to a friend. I haven't been on the water in a small boat for about 15 years, but I decided to get back into it this year. The boat that I used to have was a Folbot tandem kayak similar to the Greenland 2, and I wanted to get something a bit sportier this time. For anyone reading this review I can tell you that you cannot go wrong with the Future Beach Vortex 10.4. This is such an easy boat to maneuver and paddle that I was astounded. The price at OSJL is only $399-, and it is a great boat. Extremely stable and true tracking plus a pretty comfortable seat that is adjustable. At this point I have had my boat out twice on gentle lakes and I paddled about 6 miles the first time and about 4 miles the second time.

This boat weighs 53 pounds and I can easily handle it alone and lift it onto my SUV roof racks. My girlfriend is a new paddler and she had a great time the first day that she went out and easily did the 4 mile paddle with me. The amount of effort to paddle these light boats is minimal and anyone that is in decent condition will not have any problem keeping them moving or even be sore later.

I would recommend the Future Beach Vortex 124 kayak to anyone from a beginner to an expert paddler that is looking for a durable, great performing, and yet inexpensive boat.
