This is a 2+1, Sit-on-Top recreational kayak. If you are starting out and looking for a kayak to explore with your significant other, play at the shore with the kids or grab a mate to go fishing this ticks all those boxes. This 2+1 kayak that comes well equipped as a package with 2 paddles, 2 attachable seats (with rear storage bags), 2 fishing rod holders at the rear, 2 inbuilt storage compartments in the kayak itself and well place D-rings to either attach the seats or clip on things you’d prefer not to lose overboard. In addition to this it comes with brass fittings in great positions that are compatible with Railblaza attachments. I’ve still to invest in any of these but they look like they should be a worthwhile investment, which I hope to get in the near future. The kayak is stable from front to rear and I have also stood up in it without issue whilst afloat. I have even managed to paddle it like a SUP. That was more for my own amusement though than any practical reason. This kayak will be as at home on the river as it is on the sea. Due to its buoyancy it is great for exploring close to shore with kids as well if they want to snorkel or just enjoying the sight of what’s underneath the surface in clear water. . What I think makes this a family friendly option too is the side rope along its edge. This can be used by kids who are playing in the water to hold onto if needed. It will also prove invaluable in the event of a rescue. I have paddled this solo without issue, with kids and been the main paddler, as well as with another adult where good progress can be made. The dog even loves it. If you are thinking of 2 adults and 2 school age kids, this won’t work. 2 adults, a child and a regular dog, no problem. This kayak fits nicely onto the top of my estate car but before buying you should know that this is a sizeable kayak, which with a bit of experience could be moved on your own but is really a 2 person effort. Galaxy Kayaks as a brand are showing consistency with their product, reliability, and in my opinion are the premium brand at this price point.
