Trip Overview

We put in by the Elston Ballfields at 806 Lafayette Avenue in Crawfordsville and used the Sugar Creek DNR Public Access at Bachner Nature Preserve on S. Offield Monument Road southwest of Crawfordsville. Water was low and there were lots of rocks, but we made it through. Heard a solo lady kayaker had given up, but there were 4 of us. Class 1 and 2 rapids. Each of us got hung up on rocks at least once and it took longer than usual - over 5 hours. I took lots of pictures of the take-out because it is hard to find from the water and road. No signs or official launch - just a beach area. You must look at this carefully when you drop off a car for the shuttle. There was a piece of junk on the beach we could use as a marker. All of our group were in our 70's.

Conditions

Very low in several spots.
