Trip Overview
Nice easy paddle on a clam section of the Passaic River through the Great Piece Meadows.
We launched at the end of Camp Lane in Fairfield. Nice easy launch location with ample parking. There is one sign about a fire lane, but that seems to apply to the road. No other cars parked there when we went.
We paddled upstream for about 2 miles. Nice easy paddling. Ducks, Great Blue Herron, American Egret, Red Shouldered Hawk, muskrat, weasel.
The only downside to this paddle is the noise from Route 80, which is nearby. As you move upriver, the road noise lessens.
