Trip Overview

Morning paddle through East and West Graham Lakes and connecting streams. The Graham Lakes are located in the North Unit of the Bald Mountain State Recreation Area in Oakland Township, Michigan, about an hour north of Detroit. A placid fall morning with zero other boaters on the lakes. Temperature about 50 degrees. Started from the East Graham Lake boat launch, crossed the lake and took a short stream into small Dorn Lake. Backtracked to East Graham Lake then found the longer stream to the larger West Graham Lake. The stream is bisected by a small pond. On the return trip, chose the wrong stream, but it was chance to explore a little. Found my way back out to the lake to the stream to East Graham and back to the put-in spot. Not much wildlife except a few redwing blackbirds.

Safety Notes

Low trail bridge over stream connecting East Graham and Dorn Lakes
