East Twin River in Wisconsin

Trip Overview

This is a great little day trip of about 9 miles from Mishicot to Two Rivers, WI. No rapids, but there probably will be fallen trees blocking the river in spots.

Lots of bird life, eagles, osprey, ducks, turkeys, blue heron, sand hill cranes. Often you will see deer and muskrats. Photo's don't show much wildlife, am slow at clicking the button.

Quiet paddle and great relaxing way to spend the day. It's about 10 miles by river between the launch in Mishicot and the takeout at Paddlers Park in Two Rivers. 5 miles by road. Can get quite shallow if there is a dry Summer.

Accommodations:

Mishicot has Fox Hills Resort (e-mail: reservations@fox-hills.com) and a number of pubs and other eateries. Two Rivers has more plus various Museums and home of the Ice Cream Sundae. There are no facilities along river.

Fees:

No, but don't park on Safety Building paved parking lot.

Paddlers Park in Two Rivers is free.

Directions:

Hwy 147 runs through Michicot. Launch at far end of "Safety Building" parking lot East side of Bridge. Easy access. I always arrange to be dropped off and have my truck parked at Paddlers Park on 27th Street in Two Rivers so when trip is over, it's just load and go.

Resources:

If you exit I-43 at #149 and head N through Manitowoc there are Welcome tourist information bldgs on Right. They have an excellent free map of Manitowoc County. I used Google Earth to see the river before I tried it.
