Trip Overview

old slab - pea ridge to piper

This trip took 4 hours to paddle at moderate intensity and consistent rate while stoping for a 15' lunch midway.

The water was up and measured 1000CFS so the kayak did not drag once. There was a mild headwind throughout and two shoals that filled my boat with water but nothing challenging for a beginner. The trip was about 13 miles

The island in the half way point. You may be able to camp along the river side.

No fees or permits.

put in: hwy 10 to 251 through pea ridge/montevallo.

Take out: Hwy 25 then right toward west blocton/ cahaba river national wildlife refuge. Left at the stop sign onto bulldog bend road. The wildlife refuge take out is on the left. There is one hwy bridge at the end of the run. The take out is on your right past the bridge.
