Trip Overview

I've been going to Braunig Lake in San Antonio for a couple years. It is a great lake to paddle for the day. Nice scenery and great fishing. One of only a few lakes in Texas that stock Redfish. Cats and stripers are abundant as well with a few largemouth bass to seek out.

The lake has a designated launching spot that is closed off from people fishing on the bank. Makes it nice and easy by not running into people's lines. The lake is a relatively small lake and can be reached at any point depending where you launch at. Fishing at night is fairly well because the lights on the damn wall provide sufficient lighting to see.

Overall Braunig Lake is a great lake to fish or just paddle around for the day.

Accommodations:

Restroom facilities and concessions at the front office.

Overnight camping spots with covered pavillions.

Fees:

Daily fees are $4 per person, $3 for a child. Do not charge for kayaks as you don't take room at the boat ramp. An annual pass can be purchased, which is what I have, if u go more than 12 times a year is worth it.

Directions:

I-37 south of San Antonio.
