Description
Public fishing lake located inside Oak Mountain State Park (fee to enter park required) on Pelham, Alabama. 20 minutes south of Birmingham. Large lake with a sandy/beach area for paddle board and kayak launch. Waters frequented by fishing boats throughout, swimmers near the beach area. Be wary of snakes, some are poisonous (water moccasins are present and should be avoided). Parking area near beach launch site. Advise to pick up supplies elsewhere as the 'general store' located inside the park has much higher pricing on most items than in the gas stations/grocery stores in Pelham or other nearby communities
