Pros
Lightweight.
Has a knife built-in on one side of the fork.
Includes a zippered case to keep them clean & organized.
Safe to use with non-stick cookware.
Will not rust.
Cons
More sturdy than the common disposable plastic-ware but far thinner and weaker than I expected. Claims to be heat resistant but not so much. Mine bent while stirring a very hot cup of coffee.
The knife is not very useful. The little serrated teeth tend to crumble into your food when trying to cut with it. Plus, you often need an additional utensil anyway to hold the food while cutting, especially with hot food. If I'm camping, I already have a pocketknife at minimum.
The zippered case is not very sturdy or durable.
Not a proper spork in my opinion. I much prefer to have both the spoon and fork on the same end as I find them easier to use. Not only are they easier to use, imagine wanting to switch to using the fork after using the spoon or vise versa. Your hand gets to hold the end covered with food. Also, when camping, your hands are probably not real sanitary so switching back and forth...dirty hands now covered in food, back and forth.
Overpriced for the quality.
Suggestion
Tapirus also sells a Spork of Steel Classic set of 4 for just 2 or 3 dollars more. It is a proper spork with the spoon and fork on the same end and a normal end to hold on to. It doesn't have the integrated knife. It's much stronger than this thin plastic spork. The only downside to me is that you can damage non-stick cookware with it if not very careful.
Each of these 4 sets include a 16 oz reusable squeeze pouch, a drinking straw, and a cleaning plunger. Each filter is rated up to 100,000 gallons which is more than I plan to drink in my lifespan. They work well for filtering out bacteria. With the included straw you can drink directly from your water source. Also, you can fill a disposable water bottle from your water source and then screw the filter directly onto it as the filter will screw onto most disposable drinking bottles.
I've only had this set for 5 months but I have used them quite a bit during that time and have encountered no issues with water flow or anything else. It takes little effort to suck the water through the filter. I am always sure to backwash the filters after every use which is quick and easy to do and which is recommended by the manufacturer. If you need to drink from water which appears excessively dirty I would pre-filter the water as I can imagine you could clog this tiny thing up quickly that way.
This is perfect to take on a backpacking trip. They are very small and each filter only weighs a couple ounces. Not only is it way better than trying to haul a bunch of heavy water bottles around, it is a nice feeling knowing you will not run out of potable water...provided there are water sources in the area. Drinking directly from a pond with this tastes as good if not better than drinking from a bottle of water purchased from the store. For the going prices of this filter I find it to be the most economical compact water filter and it functions very well.
However, if you are like me and want to backpack with minimal lightweight gear with only short stops for quick meal preparation from dehydrated meal packets, then you want to get this. This is the ticket for you! I can tell you that while this thing is lightweight and compact (the complete system fits inside the pot) it is very durable. There have been quite a few times where I was far from gentle with it and it has never failed me.
One thing, I would pass on the optional accessories. As I said before, where it reins supreme is in its ability to boil water super fast, either to make safe for drinking or for using in dehydrated meal packets. As for the coffee french press accessory, you will end up with coffee full of grounds. Here is what I do to make coffee with it. I put coffee grounds inside a large paper coffee filter, draw up the sides to where the coffee is all in a ball and then tie it shut with string. I make a bunch of these before leaving on my trip and put them in a large Ziploc bag.
If you like curry, try their Thai curry. It is phenomenal!
I only find this yellow coconut curry meal to be mildly spicy but I love my food very spicy so while you may find it more spicy I can't imagine it being too spicy for anyone. While it does take the full recommended 20 minutes to be ready, it is so worth it and this is coming from a guy who takes it backpacking and wants to hurry up and get back to it. This is like eating gourmet in the wilderness. The texture and flavors are spot on. Phenomenal!
