After many decades of tandem paddling in lakes and ocean bays/"rivers" in our Mad River Lamoille (18'6) we looked for a lighter boat that would provide the same speed and stability. We chose the Souris River and couldn't be more pleased. It tracks extremely well and handles ocean swells with ease. It also has excellent speed, especially considering that its bow is so much more comfortable (slightly wider) than boats like a Minnesota II. The 35 pounds is especially helpful in portaging and loading the car!
