    Nordkapp Description

A genuine evolution of the kayak that initiated the design trends most Sea-Kayaks now follow. Continued development ensures it remains the benchmark expedition-capable sea kayak.

The current Nordkapp is an evolution of the design used for the original Cape Horn and Nordkapp expeditions of the 1970’s. Since its launch it has proven itself in almost every sea and ocean around the globe. Whilst the current Nordkapp shares many of the handling attributes of the original the design has evolved to meet the needs of the modern paddler resulting in a fast, comfortable and user friendly expedition capable sea kayak.

Great 18’ kayak for the intermediate to advanced paddler who wants to do longer trips or kayak camp. Hatches are small but with creative packing work fine. This hull is fast in flat or rough water. Rolls are easy, quick and fun! Solid Diolen construction and first class rigging make this a hell of a boat, particularly for big water.

Got this 1994 Nordkapp HS from its original owner. She's in excellent condition and almost too nice to take anyplace the hull might get damaged! I've been foolish' with various kayaks for about 20 years now and felt my skills were up to the task of taming this classic beast. Wrong! This boat demands constant attention to stay upright when not loaded with gear, so it's not the best rig for day tripping. With a good load she settles down quite a bit, tracks well and is speedy. This boat would be a nice choice for someone who has experience and wants to take multi-day trips in open water. The build quality is exceptional but the skeg control and chimp pump are difficult to access without dumping yourself!
