Tarka Description

The Tarka is a true performance kayak that’s easy to operate on and off the water. It’s not a shorter, slower version of our other boats. It’s for the lighter person who should be able to keep right in pace with a heavier guy who is paddling a bigger kayak such as the Kasia. At 11-feet long +enough width to ensure stability on the sea and on choppy waters, the Tarka is a versatile kayak. It’s loaded it with features to ensure performance and comfort – everything you need from a high-performance, recreational kayak.

Beautiful and versatile…

Beautiful and versatile Vagabond Tarka! My husband and I love our Tarka's, and have used it on flat water, small rapids, in river mouths and in the waves close to the beach. My favourite things about my Tarka are the vibrant colours (bright pink, in my case), the stability (in more than a year, I have yet to fall out of my Tarka), the fact that it is fast enough for keeping up with people in other types of kayaks, and that there is enough space for my Golden Retriever to join me on the kayak. My husband's favourite things about his Tarka are that there is no limit to the versatility for playing (he even surfs in the waves with his Tarka), it is easy to transport, and it is very robust (stones and rocks don't make a dent in the Tarka). The words of my two-year old nephew - every time that we return to the shore after taking him out on the Tarka - sums it up perfectly: "Can I have one more, please?"

I have been using the Tarka…

I have been using the Tarka for more than a year and have found it to be a wonderful and versatile kayak. I find it very comfortable, extremely stable and a great all-rounder. It has been used on flat river water, I have used it for multi day kayaking, 100km (62 miles), 4 days, down the Orange River with some small rapids and weirs, there was enough space to pack all the necessary gear for the trip. I also use in the Knysna lagoon and performs very well in sea conditions including for fishing. I would certainly highly recommend this kayak.
