I purchased the Symbiosa...

I purchased the Symbiosa Carbon Kayak Paddle directly from Pelican and it is a great paddle. It is lightweight, durable, the length is adjustable and it has a built-in whistle. I have used this paddle on several lakes and on a 3 day 2 night trip down a river, it met or exceeded all of my expectations.

I saw a review stating that the shaft was aluminum wrapped in carbon fiber... mine is not, it is all carbon fiber. My paddle is plain white with the Pelican name in black on the blade. I believe the previous review was referring to the less expensive "Adjustable Symbiosa Kayak Paddle", which is aluminum wrapped in carbon fiber. I own the "Adjustable Symbiosa Carbon Kayak Paddle" which is awesome!

This paddle is a great...

This paddle is a great entry level paddle. The blade shape is somewhere between a high angle and low angel shape so it works for multiple styles. It also has adjustable length and angle making it perfect for multiple paddlers to use. The graphics on it are also good looking. It is a 2 piece paddle so storage is easy. It also has integrated drip edges on the blades as well as drip rings on the shaft. I would recommend this paddle for anyone.

Contrary to what you would...

Contrary to what you would think, this 'carbon' paddle is not light. It has a heavy swing weight. It is not a carbon shaft as stated on paddling.com although on the Manufacturers website it lists it correctly. It is a heavy aluminum shaft with a carbon overlay for looks only. This is nothing more than a cheap entry level paddle disguise and not worth the price they are asking. If I could go back, I would never have purchased it in the first place. My own fault since I made the purchase when I got my first boat and not knowing any better at the time.
