    Stellar 18' Surf Ski (S18S G2) Description

The newly redesigned Stellar S18s has increased its speed by increasing the size of the cut-aways and narrowing the bow sections. The S18s rocker profile has been tweaked along with the trim to optimize the ski for efficient paddling and catching waves. All done without losing any stability and staying within USCA fast sea kayaks regulations. Other changes made for the S18S paddler are DeBrito bailer for dry starts, paddles and rapid water removal, carbon handles at each end and a large oval hatch in the stern. The comfort, under-stern/over-stern fittings, side handles, water bottle holder, leash attachment and deck bungees still come standard on the Stellar S18S making this a boat you need to put in your fleet.

A month ago (2018 aug) I've bought this beautiful new S18s excel.
    I'm a beginner, 47, 70kgs started paddling a year ago using a recreational kayak.

Just like the previous reviewer, I've tested the SR and found it a bit too advanced - went swimming in slight waves. I'm just learning the technique and I'm not a very strong paddler, my speeds are 8-9km/h only on a ~5km run (my usual daily, flat water), I'm topping out around 10km/h currently.
However, with this kayak I can keep 7-8km/h averages over 10km distance without problems. On short runs (~2km) I can average 9km/h.

I've found the design & the manufacture both to be flawless, comfortable, a joy to live with and very stable (even though when I first sit in, it felt a bit wobbly - the primary stability isn't what I'm used to in the recreational).

The footrests are rock solid and easy to adjust, the bucket is a perfect shape for my bottom, the handles are positioned perfectly for carrying.

Those storage compartments are well thought-out, the rear one is really huge. I reckon that's a big advantage over the SR in fact. And since I couldn't use the SR's superior speed at this point anyway, it's definitely the better choice for me.

I bought this boat new, advantage layup, in March 2018. I am paddling on Rivers in Germany. On flat Water I can easily reach 12 km/h, my average speed is between 9.5 and 10 km/h - I am 52, 97kg and started paddling for fitness in 2016. My paddle is an epic mid wing. I paddled until 2018/10 about 1000 km in it and now it feels very stable to me. In August, I paddled on the River Rhine and although the Rhine can be a very demanding River, I never capsized ;-). This Boat has a very good secondary stability. Nevertheless, I practice the re-entry from time to time and its no problem at all. The big advantage of this boat are the storage compartments.
My first intention was to buy the "super stable" stellar racer, but when I tested it in windy conditions, I capsized after a few strokes. Therefore I bought the S18S and I am really happy with it.
