    Scupper 12 Description

The Scupper 12 has a performance oriented hull-just like his legendary older brother- the 14. Sure, it’s not quite as fast, but it pops up much faster onto your roof rack after a long day of paddling at just 62lbs. It’s easier to handle on and off the water in most conditions.

Whereas it has lowered capacity, the 12 has the same cockpit size as the 14. So it has advanced ergonomics and virtually anybody can fit into it. The lowered footwells allow for a bent knees with superior leverage, with the knees safely below deck where your paddle won’t hit them.

Stability is increased substantially as well. It’s just 28″ wide, but is easy to balance with secondary stability which makes it easier to turn than most sit on tops. Your focus stays on the natural stroke instead of staying upright.

The deck has great access with two hatches. The bow hatch is 10″ x 14″ and is great for camping gear, large items, or flexible fishing rods. The center hatch has a red insert bag to hold your personal items, which is removed easily for that precious hull access. Same comfy seat and the tankwell has been spun 45 degrees, giving a diamond shaped profile.

Bound to join it’s legendary brethren is this new and bold Scupper 12. We’re bringing speed, comfort and stability to a whole need kind of kayaker. This boat is versatile. It’s performance. Practicality. With personality.

Love this boat! I mostly use it for sunset paddles in a bay as well as for exercise. Super comfortable, great storage, pretty fast especially for the length. Easy boat to want to put in the water and just go somewhere.

Jim at Swell Watercraft is also fantastic to do business with. Always prompt to respond and was helpful in helping me decide between the 12' and 14' Scuppers.

I received my Scupper 12 on the 13th of May. I have had it out about 4 times in the past 13 days. It tracks pretty well in the waters of Sanibel Island. FL. Taking in the mangroves is easy, and makes it over underwater mangroves, without having to get out. Easy to turn around in tight places.

Even in open water with 10-14mph winds and waves, i did not take on enough water to open the scupper valves. The scupper valves are extremely hard to open and close when you first get kaysk. You have to work with ot a bit to ease them up a bit. Best option is to step on them when you need to open, till they get a little looser. The seat was really comfortable, after adjusting for my lower back.

I do wish there was additional tracx toount gear, but i will have to do that myself. Wish there wasca brace under the o ne track. With a camera mount, it wobbles a bit, be nice if a brace was under to keep it sturdy.

Overall i really enjoy this kayak, compared to others i have used, including a Wilderness 140, Hobie 13, and Lifetime kayaks. I would definitley recommend this one that wants to enjoy the water.
