Tried the chelan 155 on choppy Flathead lake Montana, and it handled well as long as there were 2 people paddling. I could see 1 person getting along on a calm lake. Durable construction, easy set up, and the Fin really helps it track well. Big design flaw in the fin however; It is not a quick connection at all, due to the fact that you have to take the screw plate apart to get the whole unit in place. This could result in dropping the tiny plate in the water. The thumbscrew cannot be properly tightened by hand as it is too small, and a small plier is needed. After my 1st voyage, I remedied the issue by drilling a half circle on either side of the fin slot where the fixed buttons/pins want to come down(they should be spring loaded) so that now the fin can snap into place, and then slide the unit forward and tighten down WITHOUT having to take the screw plate apart. I needed to make a jig (A piece of 1x2) to hold the drillbit in place so it wouldn't bounce around. I needed to drill a little at a time until I got a space just big enough for the pins to go into, and had to drill all the way down to the bottom of the fin's slot. A Perfect fix!!
