Got an 11'6" Select and right off the bat had to change deck pad because it was impossible to surf on . Put a real traction pad on and the board paddled and surfed fine . I forgot to mention we found a major patch job under the deck ! Looked like someone screwed up the sanding job and used a lot of filler . The board buckled in 3-4ft surf AFTER the wave broke ! These boards are not strong as advertised. The factory and dealer did not back the product. I will never buy anything from these guys again. Don't waste your money ! Pros Surfs fine , ez to turn if you know how . Cons Lousy quality control , weak construction and no support from manufacturer . Usage Flat water paddling and surf .

Decent board. Have used on flatwater and surf. Moderate weight. Stable enough for yoga but not a boat, it still challenges balance. Pad hurts my feet after only a few minutes. Pros Versitle. Cons only 2/3 padded Usage Flatwater, yoga, surf

Great board at a great price. Handles small chop well, is stable and comfortable. It also turns really well and is quite responsive. I love this board. Pros Its just a good solid performing board for flat water and small surf. Beautiful too. Cons Its heavy... if you have to walk with it for longer than 2 minutes your fingers will be screaming at you to take a break. Along with it, the handle is designed for shorter fingers so tall people or bigger hand people be aware of that. One nit pick. There is no option for a tie down. Given the dnr people in midwest... and their utterly stupid demands about life jackets. Lack of a tie down to strap one down makes life difficult. That said the performance of the board makes putting up with this worth it. Usage Touring, flatwater, wind and boat driven surf. And just generally messing around on the water.

I learned to sup on this board. It is fantastic for beginners as the stability is great. Turning is very easy as is stopping on a dime due to traffic from kayakers boats of all types. I didn't fall off the board if stability is important and staying dry. Pros Stability - easy to turn - Cons Weight - if you have a distance to water it is tricky Usage Touring on lake & gulf water

Have used this board on lakes, rivers (level 1-2 rapids only), and the ocean. Great stability and maneuverability. Was a little long for the surf and only has 1 fin, but it was my first time on the ocean, so it might have also been lack of experience. Pros Maneuverability All-Around Board = Versatile relatively fast Cons A little heavier than I would like. I also wanted a 10.5-11' board. I tried the 10.5' Riviera board but it was not buoyant enough, had to get the 11.5' in order to use it for yoga. I am 5'1" and about 140lbs. Usage Exercise. Yoga. Lakes. River (small rapids). Races for fun - not professional.

My first board. It's overall a great board, very stable, easy to learn on, pretty durable. Not a race board, good for yoga more so a casual recreational board. The things I don't like its really heavy I don't know if it's because it's so big. There is a handle but the handle isn't too easy to grip. Definitely couldn't walk more than a couple of blocks with it. I'd recommend getting a strap with this board FOR SURE. Also it's not easy to maneuver. Sharp turns are impossible for me to do. I read somewhere that a bigger fin might help with that. I would recommend this board to a friend and definitely beginners. Pros Look, stability, feel Cons Weight, maneuverability Usage Causal touring

Awesome beginners board. Does well to support a heavier paddler like myself. Great in all uses of the water; flat lakes and rivers and does well in light surf along the Cape. Pros Lightweight, simple design Cons Uneven mat hurts feet after a long paddle Usage Exercise surf and touring

This is a very good beginner paddle board floats me well very stable and moves forward very well great for touring and it can catch waves but it does not turn as well as I would like all things considered a good beginner choice. Pros Floats a heavy man very well very stable good touring board Cons I think it needs a bigger fin doesn't turn as well as I would like. Usage I use it mostly for touring but I also love to snag a nice wave.

Very good beginner board! Feels solid, stable, easy to maneuver and learn to make turns. I'm very petit (5'1") and I had no problem picking up a little speed on it as compared to some other boards. Pros very stable, easy to maneuver Cons Usage Flatwater cruising

I am paddling the soft-top version of this board. I am 5'8" tall and about 155lbs. I am relatively new to paddle boarding but a strong paddlers coming from a white water canoe background. This board is super stable underfoot and inspires confidence with the kids I instruct. The soft-top version is super durable and stands up to the demands of beginner paddlers. Pros Stability and durability in the soft-top version. Cons Some of the quality control in manufacture is not the best. We have 9 Riviera Sups and some of the fin boxes are tighter than others Usage Flatwater beginner instruction.

AVOID these boards! I bought mine 2 months ago. After two surf sessions in the ocean the fin box was completely cracked around the fin! Whats worse is Riviera and the dealer would not stand by the product even though I was within the warranty period. Total hack company with zero customer support. Same response from Glacier Bay in Northport Long Island. Dealer and manufacture should be avoided. Go buy a Hobie, they last forever! Pros Bay Cruising Cons Poor quality - Usage

All around SUP surf and flatwater board. Pros Nice stable board, easy to cruise around and still race with the 12'6" sup catagory. Cons Recessed grab hold is nice but difficult to hold onto on long treks from vehicle to water. Usage mostly recreational touring and for a weekly local race's that are technical, multi bouy turns.

Really nice all-around board. Good for beginners because of how stable it is. With a classic surf style it is fun on the waves. Not ideal for competitive racing but fine for the recreational paddler. Sturdy too, haven't had any issue with dings. Pros Sturdy, stable, nice glide in the waves Cons Slow Usage Recreational racing, surf, exercise, some touring (shorter distances)

Great Recreational Board Pros Tracks very well, Deck is fully padded, Wide and stable for a tall person, Can easily load on to my 4Runner with practice Cons Inherent SUP problems: dings, bulky Usage I've only been paddling for a year, so I've only used it for touring and exercise. This one is probably no a good racing board.

The Riviera 11'6" Paddleboard is a great all around board. Super for beginners to experts due to its classic smooth design. Pros Light, well designed, functional maneuverability. Cons Does not fend well with rocks. Usage I use this board as my own personal touring board on Lake Jocassee. I also rent these boards to customers who expect a higher standard of board due to their experience.

This is a perfect beginner board. A very stable board that makes it simple for beginners to pop up for the first time. The pad is large and very soft and does not hurt the feet. The handle is perfectly balanced and the board is light enough to pick up with one hand using the handle. Pros Stable. I have rocked it to a 45 degree angle and have been able to push down to stay up. I have never fallen off. Large areas to attach a life jacket/supply bag. Smooth paint allows for the use of suction cups. Glides straight and smooth. Able to use in large swell and calm lakes. I have had several experiences where I should have fallen off, and the board was easy to push back into the water. It rides on it's rails well. Cons It is a slow board. The bottom is flat, and I'm wondering if that is part of it. When the swell kicks up the waves wash over the nose of the board. Adustments to standing balance helps correct this, standing further back on the board. The large size makes it a bit harder to quickly flip on top of car racks, but I can do it by myself. The grey band shows every time my paddle has hit the rim. Usage I live on a lake and use it for daily exercise. I paddle about a mile and a half a day the lake is 3.5 miles long, and have taken it a couple of times on 6-7 mile trips. I have taken it into the bay and up the river with surf swells coming across the bay. We have not had it out in the surf yet, but plan to do so this week. I carry quite a bit of gear on the board, and would consider it for touring. I am learning Yoga moves/stretching and use the board for that on the lake.
