As for this kayak, I should had read the reviews prior to this purchase as I have to agree with the stability issues. I did get a hang of it after the first 20-30 minutes or so, although still do not feel completely safe from tipping. I spent 2 hours on a fairly calm lake with the odd speed boat flying by and managed to stay upright the entire time. i am quite active for balance, cycling, snowboarding, etc... The speed of this kayak is very impressive, tracks very well, and the faster i went the more stable it became. My stats, 6'1, 230 lbs, waist 38", chest 58". These stats tell me that I am a top heavy center of balance, making it far harder to maintain slow speed stability. I would suggest a different product if you are anywhere similar to these stats. The opening was a perfect fit though, I did not to give a lower star value and stuck with a 3, this is a great product for the right person, unfortunately I am not the right 'fit' for this kayak. The great news, I contacted the retailer where I purchase this kayak and they will let me trade in for the Inuvik 13' and just add the few extra $. the hull design offers more stability for me, the extra 2" width will also help, although the main difference is the hull design. looking forward to reviewing the Inuvik soon.

Not liking
I am not very happy with my purchase of the Muskoka Kayak..it is very light to get around with but I found it very unstable to use, first time it rolled for no apparent reason..I was setting on the shoreline..the rest of the time I spent in it was a workout to keep it stable..I love Kayaking and will get another one I feel more comfortable in so I can enjoy the water..I would however not recommend this one style..
Great recreational/day…
We bought the Muskoka…
This boat is surprisingly…
Couple of issues with this boat, the seat being top of the list, the manufacturer uses the same seat in every boat they sell from the smallest rec boat, to their largest touring boat, the seat is OK for the rec models, but not at all suitable for the touring boats or this one, first thing I would do is cut out the inflatable backrest and support tower, then replace it with a back band, I did this in my touring boat with great results and I really think it would help this boat immensely!
Secondly, the hatch, with its thick foam rubber seals and heavy buckles it looks like it should seal tightly and never let a drop of water in, that unfortunately is not the case, it always ends up with water in it when going down the river or playing in light surf, it's an easy fix involving some peel and stick weather stripping, but a problem for a brand new boat!
Over all, a good boat. Maybe not what I would recommend to a timid paddler, but a very fun "crossover" boat for those that maybe want to play a bit, I would however suggest purchasing float bags for the bow of the boat if this is your intent.
