Trip Overview

Paddle from York Harbor upstream with the incoming tide 5.1 miles (just beyond the Scotland Road Bridge) and back with the outgoing tide (10.2M RT). Launched 70 minutes before high tide in the harbor. A slight headwind as we ascended the river but a great tailwind on the way back down. Minor boat traffic around the harbor and a bit upstream. A few other kayaks coming and going. Kids jumping off the Scotland Road Bridge. A beautiful day in every respect.

Safety Notes

The usual planning precautions for a salt water trip. Lobster boats in the harbor. Don't usually have to worry about being on the receiving end of a cannonball off the bridge :)

Gear Notes

CD Vision 14 and

Conditions

NW wind 5 mph, sunny, incoming and outgoing tide, light boat traffic
