We paddled in the bay directly off of Wilderness State Park's camping beach. It was very beautiful and relaxing! Friday night was super calm water, but Saturday had a bit more waves. However, it was still very easy and calm to kayak and I would recommend it for beginners. We were out for probably 1 hour each time. If you paddle off to the right (heading Northeast), you can see Mackinac Bridge!
