Whorouly to Markwood on the Ovens River

A self-supported trip created by All_Things_Outdoors

Trip Overview

I put in at the Bridge over the Ovens River at Whorouly which was easily accessible and then over the next 8 hours travelled downstream fishing along the way. The trip is approximately 17kms of very mild rapids and gentle stretches of river. At about the halway point there is a small dam which must be portaged around. This can be done by using the paddock on the right hand side which isn't a great problem. The take out is at Pioneer Bridge in Markwood which has a nice beach, camping and toilet facilities.

Portage Notes
