Trip Overview

The trip started great. We put in at 3 pm expecting a 4 - 4 1/2 hr. trip. The water was shallow but we were able to paddle most of the first 1-2 miles with occasional dragging. Then the trip went bad.

We were dragging as much as we were paddling. It got dark around mile 5. Once night fall set in, we struggled down the creek just to make it out to a familiar area, Horsestomp Campground. We walked by road to the take out. We got out of the water at 2 am! It was a bad trip.

This could be a great trip, but watch the water levels closely. Possibly wait for a good rain. The scenery is beautiful. We encountered lots of wildlife on the creek. There was one tree crossing the creek that caused us to get out, but no other obstructions.

All in all, this could be a good run if planned very well, but not in summer with such low water levels.
