Trip Overview

Watson Lake is located in the Granite Dells near Prescott, AZ. It is a terrific lake for an easy paddle when all you want to do is explore the many inlets and fingers of the lake.

The granite boulders around the perimeter of the lake stand in stark contrast to the normally calm water. The one bit of advise is to watch out for hidden boulders just below the surface. Even though we know where most of these are, we still managed to ground ourselves twice this last trip.

This lake is particularly nice for a dawn or dusk paddle before the park gets busy. This little lake is well worth the trip to Prescott to enjoy.

Accommodations:

This is a very nice park with showers, flush toilets and good water. There are campsites and an abundance of grass to make it a very nice setting for day trips.

Fees:

There is a $2.00 fee for day parking.

Directions:

From Phoenix or Flagstaff, take Hwy 17 to Hwy 69 and follow it through Prescott Valley to Prescott Lakes Parkway. Turn right and continue to Hwy 89. Turn right and continue to the roundabout. Take the first right into the park.
