Trip Overview

Waldo is the 3rd purest lake in the world. Fantastic color (I'll try to upload some pics)

As of 5/1/13 it is totally non motorized ! It's pretty big water, 6m x 3m , and right at the top of the cascades so the downside:

1) winds by noon
2) Alaska-level mosquitos until mid August ... at least, heavy snowpack years, wait 'til the first HARD freeze, really! One year we just got back in the car without launching.

Accommodations:

3 launches, 2 campgrounds also some very limited 'dispersed' wilderness camping (pack it in/out of course), N side off limits to dispersed camping.

Fees:

Forest Service TH pass to park cars, check with FS on campground fees

Directions:

I-5 to Hwy 58 exit (just S. of Eugene), then ~50 miles East to Waldo Lake turn off.
